Would you pay MORE for a Manual Transmission Tacoma?

I wouldn't buy a Tacoma if it was only available with an AT.

 

I would pay 10,000 more over the automatic

I've had a Toyota truck W/MT as my daily driver continuously for 38 years. I intend to keep driving one as long as I'm able to push in a clutch. If they quit making them I guess my '17 is going to keep getting rebuilt.

 

My prediction: Every MT owner stands victorious holding the AT owners feeble, squirming body down with our massively JACKED left leg. Seriously though.. who is going to lose a one-on-one to someone who complains about leg fatigue in traffic? MT owners for the win

 

I’m 37. I don’t feel old, even though my son calls me old! I’ve purchased manual transmission sport compacts (Honda Civic), but I have absolutely no interest in a manual transmission Tacoma. Like you, if I get a sports car, I prefer a manual.

 

I love my manual, have always driven stick shift cars, but honestly todays automatics are generally better than manuals. If I were buying a sports car I'd get a stick, but another tacoma... I'd be awfully tempted to go AT for the smoothness and added mpgs. No way would I pay MORE for a stick shift.

 

Yeah.....but all the AT guys have been drinking heavily on the way to the fight with their free hand, so it’s a wash.

I have 3 manual transmission cars and of course most motorcycles (all of mine) are manual. I get enough fun and shifting in my other toys, Tacoma is for daily driver, not for fun but for getting places, I just want to get in and go.

There are several reasons manuals are dying. It simply costs more to offer several options. Less warranty issues as the computer keeps you from having a "money shift". New autos can handle towing and heavy loads better than the old autos can.

The days of MT in anything are numbered. None in the C8 Corvette, none in a lot of other things. I do not think you can get one in the new Supra.

 

Heel/toe does not really work in any modern Toyota. Because of the Lexus/Toyota floormat debacle, they all have software that freaks out if you hit the brakes and gas as the same time. My 86 does not accept throttle blips when applying the brakes, its one of the other but not both.

 

Or playing with themselves depleting their energy and aggression.

 

Honestly I don't think anyone really wants to heel/toe a Tacoma lol. The pedal setup is not conducive to it anyway.

 

Hidden benefits of AT. Also the reason MT guys drive off the road all the time and are found dead with their pants unzipped. It’s a nation-wide tragedy, and not talked about enough in mainstream media.

 

eh, realistically there is no point paying more for a MT, the demands aren't there except us MT nerds lol. I was able to get one without any additional fancy "options" for the price I think it was very fair to low. I've been happy since.

 

I did pay more for my MT. I didn't want the 4-banger, so the only way I could get a MT was to pay more for the OR (or sport). Ideally, I would have been able to get an SR5, 4WD, MT. And honestly, that is the only reason I drive a Tacoma. The older I get, the less I want my vehicle to do for me. It probably doesn't matter if they offer MT in the future for me as I am likely to buy/rebuild an older vehicle next time around (even if it costs me more). I want simple/fewer parts.

 

I would pay more for MT for sure. Do not see myself driving an auto for a while.
