Swapping a 2.7L to either a V6 or V8

Yeah cause a simple suspension swap is anywhere near equivalent to powertrain swap

 

As I have mentioned in my original post, I am looking for feedback from people who have actually done this before. Obviously you have not. I am not interested in taking a huge loss on trading or selling my truck to turn around and spend 30 grand or more on another.

I am also not trying to turn this truck in to a franken truck with 500+ horsepower. Stop wasting my time and post about something useful on another person's post if you in fact have something to actually offer.

 

Sorry, not interested in a 1/4 mile truck.

 

How much do you want it to cost? Are you mechanically inclined, do you have the special tools need, do you own a lift, is this somethign you can actually do yourself ( i doubt it as you arent even asking real questions), cause if it isnt somethign you can do yoruself, well good luck cause you will pay a huge bill for labor.
Have YOU researched what goes into an engine swap. There are guys on here who have done it. It took 20-40 hours min. But instead you are here, crying and whining about guys that are telling you what you dont want to hear. Do some research on your end and stop being lazy.
A huge lose? Your truck is 10 years old for christ sakes. You are going to take a loss either way.

 

This post right here leans toward the direction I suggested. For just a few doll hairs and not being afraid to wring out the gears, you can really wake up the lil 2.7! Hell, turbo it for just a couple more doll hairs over the basic bolt-ons.
If you find that it's still not enough, there's gonna plenty of people opening their wallets for your take-off upgrades of the 2TR-FE.

If you're set on a swap, git er dun! If you're looking fora tow pig, buy a tow pig. Not a Tacoma.

 

A decent used on here hours for 25 to 30 grand plus to trade or sell a 10 year old truck I would not get what I want for it. Then there is the fact that I have no idea about the past of said used truck. If it is possible to do, I am sure it would be a lot cheaper to swap in either a Toyota V6 or V8 from a Tundra which would give me what I am looking for.

 

Either way, 500hp is still more than a stock LS6.

I do not intend to do the work myself as I don't have the place or tools to do it. That is why I am asking for feedback from people who have done it. Either themselves or having it done in a shop to see if it's worth doing. I am not crying about anything, trying to gather the info to make a decision. Have you personally done this or paid to have it done? It doesn't sound like you have any answers for me either. I am asking something simple and all I seem to be getting from people is trade it in for a Ford (lol) or put in an LS V8. WTF, really.

I am looking for info and yes I do have some idea what will be involved in an engine swap. Will I actually do it or not, I won't know until I can get some info. Obviously not everyone on here has a whole lot to add.
