Yeah, talk softly and explain experience in any field takes time.

I retired four years ago and understand that any job that requires more then basic leadership skills would mean I’d be starting over. Welcome to life children.

I guess we've all seen a little bit of it all, old & new. Good point that it's perpetual and we'll all have to abide to some degree.
I didn't mean to attack any specific age group though I'm pretty sure I came off that way, agreed, not enough time to hash it all out on the internet.
Really feeling like I need to learn to weld now, damn, definitely telling my kids it's ok to NOT go to college, what an expensive waste that turned out to be.. over n out.

Depends what you do. Trade skills are taught in a lot of colleges now. Also almost any middle or upper management job in any large corporation (mom and pop businesses keep disappearing) requires a degree of some sort. Part of the problem is what colleges cost now and the people that think they need a big name school as opposed to community college. With lots of parents paying for college these days, kids aren’t as motivated to do community college, even if it’s just for your core classes.

What pay are you referring to in “IT”? What position?

IT is too general a term. Break/fix is very different from Infrastructure Architect. There’s are many IT ladders.

Well said. I do see this today as well... very common among fresh college grads.

My wife and I are pretty spoiled for our ages (early 30s). I feel guilty sometimes having the things we have, and can comfortable afford.... but we worked hard when we were younger and it ended up paying off earlier in life for us.

Some large companies have shied away from drug tests completely for that reason. In my opinion, companies should just test for the hard stuff. If a worker is not high during the job, who cares if they smoke a lil pot at home?

When I was a teenager, I did partake regularly.

Many many years later, I am working with some guys who I know have medical marijuana scripts.

The chasm between what they think their abilities are and what they are actually capable of doing is immense, imo.

    Hard workers, yes.

Can be trusted to get something done without fucking it up...not so much.

Is exactly what a boomer would say. And would also have screenprinted on a tank top at the beach.

Baby boomers “let loose” by taking the top down and listening to nickleback, letting that cool breeze drift over that bald spot.

Still strange to me to be lumped in with millenials. I turn 28 tomorrow, have been working as a delivery driver at UPS for a while and getting my first new truck, 2020 Taco.
