Battery replacement on a 2015

Yes I already did a search. The Original battery reads 165 reserve? but the one I got is 130. BUT original 160 cranking amps, and the new one is 175. It's not the same number, I got the Gold model I figured it was batter? Will it be ok? Thank you in advance folks

 

It will be fine. It means your new battery has less capacity, that is 35 minutes less run time capacity at a specified draw when not supported by the alternator. However your new battery has more cranking power. Think of it kind of like the new battery has a bigger motor but smaller fuel tank.

Crash, again thank you for your time. I’m a bit obsessive compulsive and your answer was perfectly explained. Of course now I have something that’s bugging me. I have no intention of going back to Advanced Auto and looking to swap it out, but if you’re inclined to indulge my curiosity. When I was at the store last night my factory battery was a 27F and I mentioned the specs earlier. Advanced had the battery as their silver model, I chose the gold. There was also a platinum. Each progressively have LESS reserve minutes. I think the platinum even had less CCA’s. To me that seems backwards. Plus my gold is an 1 1/2 less in length but more money? I figured spend more for a better battery

 

I'm not familiar with their battery line. It could be build quality and warranty that you are paying more for, not necessarily better performance, but I agree that it would seem odd to pay more for less performance. Is the new battery 27f or 24f? Either way you are fine. The specs of the new battery are more then sufficent and will serve your truck well.

 

As stated - either 24F or 27F will work. If you have a 27F and want to stay with it - the NAPA 27F fits. I have one in my 2015 4.0L Pre Runner with the Tow Pkg.

Lots of complaints here about certain brands of 27Fs being too tall for the stock hold-down hardware.

Lester like poor Crash has learned I’m a bit obsessive. I measured both this morning before retuning the core both are 7 7/8 H 6 3/4 W the 24F is 10 1/4 L the old 27 F is 11 7/8 L
Thank you again Crash I’ll take a look at your page. It was last night at 7 pm my wife drove me down to Advanced Auto and I figured I was getting a better one spending the extra $30 on the gold one as opposed to the silver 27F OEM specs. Gentleman can’t thank you enough for your time and patience

 

The new tacomas use the 24F if that gives you piece of mind.

 

Our 2nd gens only came with the 27F if you had a tow package. I moved "down" to a 24F when mine died as that was what Walmart had readily available. No issues what so ever

 

I was actually going to post a similar battery question for my 2013, but thanks to you guys, no need to post, got my answer. 27F since i got two package also. Beers all around!

 

24F will fit just fine and likely will have more CCA's. 27F just has more capacity (so you can run accessories longer). Like stated I happily moved to the 24F as availability is way better, they are cheaper, have more CCA's than a stock 27F ANNNND less weight to rip an inner fender out.
