Not sure if it would work with your setup or not but here you go:

Looks like this is one that's designed for the higher-sitting red dots. I'm getting the impression that a flip-mount at the height I'm looking for isn't physically possible, but a QD mount would be sufficient for my needs since the magnifier doesn't need to be zeroed anyway.

Here's a pic of the sight unit I have, which sits with the bottom of the rim more or less directly on the rail. The center of it is probably too high to co-witness with the sights on the SU16 and is almost definitely too low to line up with AR irons.

The more I look around, the more I'm thinking I'll probably just need to either get a proper scope or a full raised magnifier/reflex set to get magnification on this rifle. I don't know that I can justify the cost of doing that on such an inexpensive gun that's going to be no higher than 3rd choice for HD (behind either a moss shockwave or a pistol) and will most likely never make a hole in anything but paper.

If your intent with the rifle is close range than I would keep as is with no magnifier.

SBR's make sense when you remember the ATF changes its mind all the fing time and goes back on things it had previously said were ok and made them not ok. Ones a law, ones a technical department letter.

Can you legally shoulder a brace? ATF seems a bit wishy washy on the issue.

This. Look at what happened with bumpstocks. I also understand not wanting the "man" knowing what you have though....... Personally i would want to keep things on the up and up so id pay the stamp SBR stamp.

I pretty sure you can. Last I checked (two days ago), the ATF approves it, but yes - in a wishy washy way.

Thats my take. Do you really want to trust the ATF?

Trust, yes. I really want to have complete confidence and trust that I am compliant with the ATF. That is why I am getting a proper SBR and not dealing with the likely future pistol issues.

The way I understood it was its supposed to be a third point of contact for your cheek. You're not "supposed" to shoulder it but everybody knows what you're doing when you put a brace on a "pistol"

Advanced Armament Corp SR-5, as @95 taco said. I'm happy with it - I have two and both maintain zero well and don't build up much carbon. That one seems to be holding up well to the SBR and I can't see any erosion on the baffles when looking at it with my borescope.

I would save a little more and run a Holosun with solar panel.
