I've searched and haven't found much on the 2WD's. Installed the 3" lift and some 17x9's -12mm with some 285's. Had an alignment done immediately after. But it feels as if there is a bubble or flat spot in a tire. At 50-60mph I'm getting a wobble/vibration. Someone in a FB group suggested I get the tires re-balanced. Saying that it sounds mostly a tire balance issue and not so much needing a shim. Figured I'd ask here. What do you guys think?

I'm going to be taking the truck to an actual Toyota dealership and let them balance them.

Usually if youre vibrating at a specific, reproducible speed, its gonna be a balance issue. The 50mph range has been my crap spot for balance issues on 3 different sets of tires as well

Have you figured out a solution or even a slight remedy?

I would def not go through the trouble of letting the dealer balance your tires, for numerous reasons.

Does the steering wheel have a corresponding shimmy?

Move the front tires to the rear and see if it changes.

The steering wheel shakes back and fourth slightly enough that i can see the shake in my arm and watch when holding the wheel.

Most likely a balance issue then.

And it’s a steady rhythm related to wheel / vehicle speed?

Is there a reason why I should avoid the dealer for a balance? A tire shop is the original balancer of these wheels and tires.

    yes

And they should make it right.... not the dealer. Road force balance the tires, could also just have a flat spot from being on the tire rack for a long period of time.

Time, money, and “normal” or upsell on a new tranny

And you already paid the tire shop.

It’s not that uncommon to need a rebalance.

You should avoid the dealer for anything other than warranty. Take it to a tire shop and get them rebalanced.

Why not take it back to the tire shop and get it road force balanced. They might do it free if you just bought the tires there.

Anyone have any ideas about a cab vibration at about 70-75mph?

the steering wheel is pretty calm, but the cab/ truck it self seems to shake.
Ex: the passenger seat back visibly shakes pretty good.

Tire rotations do not change anything, and alignment is good. Have also swapped cars with a friend, and from the outward view, the truck is perfectly stable. No tires/axle/parts that are obviously shaking the whole vehicle at speed.

Only about 1.5” lift springs in the back, and a lift spindle & long travel up front.

Body mounts/ cab mounts front and rear ok?... check those bushings and make sure they are torqued properly.

I actually sought out a place that does road force balancing. If youve got Discount Tire in your area they did mine for $15 a corner. Still have a small shake but its nowhere near as bad

Yes, body mounts are good. Front core support mounts are tight, but the bushings are shot for sure.
