    i was going to say painters tape and backer also. Just put same thickness tape on the opposite side.

    What blade are you running now? Are you crosscutting with a rip blade?

    I have never had luck with painters tape. It seems to only reduce the chipout and not completely eliminate it. Since it's on a sled, a backer board isn't going to do much. Is the sled zero clearance? Have you tried a scoring cut?

    An ATB (Alternate Tooth Bevel) blade might be best for you. Anyone that is rated for a fine finish or higher should work.

    I use this one for veneered plywoods and hardwoods without chipout issues. It's kind of my go to blade. Like @shane100700 said, they are on the shelf at Home Depot.

    I have used one for many years, they work great. They can be resharpened too, helping to offset the high initial cost.

    for now Im happy with the diablo ripping blade. I dont do fine furniture or boxes typically so for now thats what I'll be using;)

    Haha, John has some cool stuff in his shop. A lot of his tools are homemade. I don't have that issue on any of my saws. I can reach the nut just fine when the blade is at full height. He definitely has a great design mind though.

    Most recent project for some friends that are going to be opening a coffee shop next year. Its a simple serving tray for espresso and sparkling water shots made from local SC Oak with recessed holes for the cups a slot for the spoon and a finger hole for the serves. Finished with a little wood burning and a food grade clear coat over it. Simple looking but a challenge to get the locations and the feel right in the hands for repeated use and abuse. Also had to build 25 of them so I got to practice my batch making skills.

    A quick note on blades. Make sure you keep them clean. Burnt dust and sap will make a blade cut like garbage and often a simple cleaning will give it life again. Also most Frueds can be sharpened and its worth looking into a local blade shop. I have had the same 4 blades for about 6 or 7 years keep them clean and rotate when they get sharpened. Finally have a blade dedicated to 2x4 type lumber work as that soft pine sap is hell on blades.

    X what ever on Forest blades worth every penny

    Which blade is better for cutting as strait as possible with the grain on 2 1/4" walnut?

    The table saw has a 10" blade. Is more teeth better or worse? Looking at all the Diablo blades. 30-60 teeth.

    They should all cut it straight. More teeth is generally for finer finish.

    A ripping blade would be the best, combination blade next.

    This combination blade will do both rip and crosscut. If you're cutting 10/4 board, take some shallow passes first.

    we have a service at our local lumber store where you can drop off blades for sharpening , IIRC the standard Freud blades can be sharpened approx 6 times and the Freud Industrial blades can be done 10 or more times

    for me it averages roughly $20 CDN per blade depending on tooth pattern
