Same with my dog. Everybody thinks she’s so mean and aggressive just because she’s a pitbull. Pisses me off:annoyed:

Yea it’s sad a bad owner can make any dog bad. Pits are just so loyal they will do anything they are asked! And get a bad name for it! Very sad and unfair. No such thing as a bad dog only bad owner but the dogs get the punishment!

Biggest bunch of horse-shit about the breed there is. Myth that has been propogated since a stupid 70’s movie about killer dobies. Look it up...

I’ve raised three Dobies in my life. Most loyal animals on the planet along with German Shepherds. They are also very intelligent, playful and funny. They need exercise so not a good choice for people with lethargic lifestyles.

That’s not the dogs fault. It’s your in-laws.

People blame all sorts of shit on dogs and breeds never realizing that 99% of the problems are their own fault because they have no idea WTF they’re doing. Dogs also pick up on their owners personality traits very strongly. People who are innately hyper will almost always have hyper dogs. People who are chill and laid back will usually have dogs that are the same.

I was professional LE K-9 handler for twelve years. I’m not pulling this out of my ass. I’ve seen a lot of dog/owner/handler combos. I’ve seen a dogs personality/behavior shift 180 degrees depending on the person handling him.

They have evolved to queue off of us and our moods and wants through the centuries. Many of the negative attributes that people complain about coming from their dogs are actually their own failings reflected and they never realize it. Even when you point it out to them they are more likely to dismiss it as they don’t want to recognize it as truth and it’s much easier on the ego to just blame the dog.

The one exception IMHO has - and this wont be popular with their fans - is pit bulls. Some of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever met were pit bulls - until they’re not. 999 times out of a thousand they may not react badly to whatever stimuli triggers them, then there’s that one time it does. Pit bulls - not all but a lot - have the potential. I wouldn’t trust one unsupervised around my children for love or money. YMMV, but that’s what personal responsibility is all about.

I will admit that it put my dog training skills to the test with a Doberman, but that's part of the game for such an intelligent animal. It's like they are constantly trying to outsmart you or see what they can get away with. But once trained properly, I've never known a more affectionate and loyal friend. Can't vouch enough about dobies.

Here he is again, working both his day job and his night job.

Yeah we started at 9 weeks and we are just finished at 6 months. He has a medium crop and his ears wanted to stand even before cropped so it was pretty easy on us.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Both dogs have entirely different roles.

I've was raised with Dobermans and still live with one. They're smart. Really smart. You can train them to do anything and quickly as long as you are a leader. They also listen and won't run off on a trail chasing game.

My step Dad's Doberman once chased a car jacker out of the car after he jumped in pointed a gun at him then proceeded to turn around and realize the Doberman was about to hand his ass to him in little pieces. He also took on five thugs that tried to rob my step Dad while jogging. They all ran off. Welcome to Flint in the 70s.

I've seen my Doberman come up to the door behind my girlfriend while she was trying to get a shady solicitor to go away while he insisting she open the door to hand her a pamphlet. They left really quick when they saw Fletcher patiently waiting for them at full attention.

I don't worry about leaving food out. He dog food bag is right out in the open. He will wait until released to eat and is trained in German. He love Fetch, tug, and knows how to swim.

I trained my Doberman to run free leash by 9 months with me while mountain biking single track.

They are not an easy dog to take care of, have a ton of energy, and are eating pooping machines. They are not a lazy man's dog. I don't think a Doberman is for meant for 95% of people that want dogs.

Everyone that meets him wants him and asked where to get one. What they don't understand is the amount of time I put into him to get that way. I'm sure you can probably train a Golden in this manner, but some of the more aggressive traits are not going to be there and you're gonna have to worry about them thinking with their noses because they are meant to hunt.

My Grandpa and Golden. He loved that dog. It was a huge softy.

Here's a picture Fletcher of doing what he loves most not that he's getting older.
