Hi- which fuse was this? I'm having the same problem, but I can't find any blown fuses- either under the hood or under the dash...

Ok, I am new to this forum and have been reading about the issues with the dash lights, as I have the same issues. My dash lights went out in my 2000 Prerunner about 5 yrs ago. Initally it was just the speedo and Tach. Later went the rest of the lights except for the A/C switch. The dimmer switch works fine as I can see that it dims the light on the A/C switch. All fuse's are good under hood and dash. Even after market stereo lights work fine. Took 4-runner in for recall last week and while waiting talked to service tech about issue in Prerunner. According to toyota, all dash lights and tail lights are on same cuircuit. Tail lights work fine!Very Weird. Anyway, I let my step daughter borrow my truck last week and got a phone call this morning that the truck won't start. I just put in a brand new battery two months ago and have had no issues. She told me that the dash lights started working a few days ago! When the key is turned to the on position, everything comes on, headlights,dashlights,ect.... But the truck does'nt even click when trying to start. Also, I might add that many years ago there was a loose bolt that I could hear in the dash many years ago. Maybe shorting out something out, not sure. Any Ideas?

Haha! I got into my truck this morning for work and nothing was turning on, so I had to go without any lights on my dash and I was freaking out cuz I didn't want to deal with electrical problems. I got my truck washed on Saturday and they must've lowered the lights all the way down You saved me from a huge headache later on thank you!

Nice find on the old thread!

Yeah, the dash backlights are wired into the tail light fuse. It's a 10A fuse in the engine bay fusebox. In their wisdom, Toyota wired the dash lights into the tail fuse so that the driver would be notified if the fuse blew.

    Is yours out?
