Ok. Thats not too bad. Nice blend. I hate sitting all day at a job but also dislike having to always be moving. A nice medium would be perfect.

Yeah, we’re pretty flexible, I typically run a tractor (radio, AC, and heat) but also run skid steer (AC and Heat) and then have the ability to run a side by side as well as a few other things.
The main things keeping me are benefits (mainly paying into the same retirement as my LE career) and the flexibility that my boss offers (today I took a 90 minute lunch with 10 minutes notice to go see the chiropractor, no issues).
Tomorrow will be some manual labor, large local event that we’ll be working and having to manage barricades and trash.

207 today, yikes I need to run a deficit for a couple months, but I love the fall so I’ll probably just keep cals low during the week, enjoy the weekends and some vacation hunting trips and wait until after thanksgiving.

30 minutes until upper session, sucking down coffee
Today will be 5 sets of each exercise 8-10 rep range

    BB Bench
    SS with
    BB Rows

    DB shoulder press
    SS with
    Pull-ups

    Preacher curls
    SS with
Dips (triceps focus, but gets a little extra work anterior delts and pecs)

Maybe a little extra isolation stuff at the end if I have time.

Lookin freaky! When you peak for contests do you bring up your carbs over a few days and monitor or just know what you need to fill out on time without spilling over? Manipulate sodium too? I was amazed when I was lean the difference day to day just on little tweaks to diet without really trying for an outcome - holding water, filled out and dry etc.

Upper session done, shoulder will be screaming tomorrow :(

Last 2 weeks no sodium or as little as possible hopefully no more than 60mg a day. I have a set protocol to carb load starting right before the show. I’m older and have learned my workings pretty well. I’m just hungry as hell my metabolism is on fire right now. Can’t wait to pull a little water and fill up a little.

Gotcha, wow 60mg would be hard to meet just in normal non processed foods. I noticed for myself, I looked best about 1-2 days after a carb-up then back to very low carbs, Id be filled out but dry and vascular

BTW you are a fukin monster being that lean at 247

Sodium and dairy are the two big No No’s for me. I love em both but talk about counterproductive.

You got em popping just keep on grinding. Looking good!

lol well that was from about a year ago, I'm not rockin much vascularity right now (probably around 20%bf), but liftin bigger weights again. I try to get lean about every other year. The year in between I try to get stronger without getting too fat.

You look great man. No offense, but you don't look 247 lol. If you're that heavy, why even both with physique?

I’m pretty good i always stay pretty lean. I may hit 14% late in January after a lot of zebra cakes and salted caramel. . I love how strong I feel when I’m full unlike now when I feel like my arm could be disconnected and pulled off easily.

That’s the reason I do physique because I carry my weight with height and look skinny if I don’t carb right. I gave em hell in classic physique but it wasn’t gonna happen and definitely not a chance on a pro stage.

Yea, I don't know how you guys do it over and over again especially multiple shows spread over the summer through fall. I felt like shit last year and I wasn't in contest conditioning, probably another couple weeks and water manipulation. I felt fragile, hardly slept, hungry all the time and pretty much drained unless I was stimmed up. Also I felt like DYEL with clothes on, but looked jacked shirtless.

Yes I believe everyone took notice this year. I still think we need a height bracket in the pros. I will never understand how you compare me to a guy that’s 5’7” 175.

Ok, now that we have some bodybuilders in here I’m interested in having a discussion.

Lets talk about caloric restriction and lean mass loss.

I have zero experience being a competitive body builder, powerlifter, or being large in general. I have what I would consider a respectable physique. People can tell I workout looking at me down the hallway. So taking what my limited experience is from cutting and bulking as well as research I have looked at about metabolism and weight loss I pose this question:

Outside of severe or extended caloric restriction do you really lose any appreciable lean mass during a cut?

And if the answer is yes, to what extent does this need to be a concern with the average individual?

The research I’m seeing shows with weight loss, lean mass is really not a concern. Your body has to go through a lot more work to utilize protein as a fuel source. It just doesn’t want to go there.
And its not hard to maintain protein synthesis in a caloric deficit. If that were the case you would die.

I’m wondering if its just people thinking they have more mass than they do when they are fat so when they lean down they think “OMG I lost all my mass!”

I’m interested in opinions, experience, and of course any sources people have on that.
