so where are you going to plug your "dongle" into? a light socket?! Last time I checked your dongle works with the USB plug on the LAP TOP!

 

No worries. I've been on the posting struggle bus lately. It must be Fall messing with my head.

 

DES2009 point is, if his LAP TOP! breaks, or if he decides to upgrade to a new laptop, I mean LAP TOP! He don't need Mat to activate a new software key. He install PCMflash ,drivers, plug in dongle, and flash tune. You have to email OVT, wait maybe a day, maybe a month for a new reg key, then flash. I'd rather not wait

 

I feel like the OLE Beta with the proper ECT function(no GL) has been the best so far, went back to install it and it's great. Only peetpeeve is that going from 87 to 93 oct doesn't feel as big a difference as it did on the past, but other than that, the throttle feel, shifts and acceleration are on point.

Anyone else feel the same?

19800 seems slow and sluggish after 19770... I'm back on it because I like how responsive it it. It also gets better milage with my driving habits.

 

Yes. That was the Best for me. However, I ran atleast 10 Tanks of 91 and the fuel economy never improved over my previous favorite tune. I actually started noticing a strange hesitation on aggressive acceleration around 40-50mph. Kinda felt like bad fuel or dirty injectors.
Switched back to my favorite 1.05.1 91 base last Sunday afternoon and I'm very happy. Shifts great, Fuel mpg's are much better than OLE doing the same exact trips. Back and forth to work etc. Power is great. Just wish our Premium 91 didn't just go from $2.50/g to $3.15/g

 

I did not like 19770 much mostly due to throttle control and shifts so i figured 19800 would be the same but toned down.

I'm sure the mpg's didn't increase.

Personally I used to run 1.05 performance and this 2.0 beta feels better than that one did, plus I went from 18 to 19.5 mpg so I'm quite happy.

If the final performance tune was like this with a little bit more aggressive throttle, then it would be amazing imo but even as is, it's very good.

 

Anyone know what's the process and cost to update from a dongle to a handheld? I figure I might as well do it now if I could.

 

which one are you running? I'm still on 1.05.1(93 Perf), best one I've found so far.

 

Anyone still having issues with their truck not downshifting to 4th on inclines?

 

Just submitted my vote for 16012, ZEN ticket number 10550.

After trying all the beta versions, some a couple of times, I have to agree with n6vmo, TFly, and Texaslaw that for my truck (2018 04A61, all stock) and driving habits (90% highway, rolling hills of Kentucky, semi aggressive) 10612 gives me the most predictable shifting, both up and down, and refined performance of all of them. Smooth from a stop with enough acceleration for passing when I ask for it, I'm averaging 23.5 mpg for driving 70-75, and when stuck in traffic it behaves.

I'm all for the fun and extra power of 19700, and someone else described the feeling of holding the truck back a little rather than having to push it - which I agree with. But I never got used the tip in from a stop, even after two tries of a couple hundred miles each. I had to think about it every time. With 16012 I just drive.

19800 was ok, nothing stood out, but every once in a while it would exhibit strange shifting, not predictable like 16012. There was a definite increase in shifting when dropping down from 91 to 87 octane.

I would like to try 16012 on 89 octane if it turns out it is an OLE version, but waiting on confirmation from Mat as there seems to be some confusion on that.

 

I opened up my Hand held box this morning to use and in the instructions it says to “Flash back to stock before using Hand held”.
So can you use the Hand held to flash to stock first?

I was a dongle user and mailed my dongle in as a trade.
I did send a email via Zendesk.

 

Overall observations:

stock truck guys like 19800

Heavier, bigger tires, modded truck guys like 19700 (for the most)

4.88 guys, well we are the happiest
- just want a non-gearlock tune with ECT

BTW, Love watching the new guys (P5F) talk smack about the dongle guys. Lol...

No, that's the issue. No instructions have been released by OVTune. So, anyone with a handheld can't use it until the instructions are released.

 

This seems to be the running theme. Although I’m a mostly stock truck except for some running boards and a 300lb SnugTop Shell.

I haven’t been on this thread for awhile.
So no one is able to use their Handheld?? Waiting on instructions??

 

Observation (sent to Mat #10554):
04B04 with 4.88's and stock tire size.
Initial Beta 0944 (Performance tune with GL via ECT) = 2000 miles driven 99 % perfection. Average mileage 21.5 mpg.
New release 19800 - after this tank is done I'm going back to 0944. 19800 is too soft - lacks pep. Just blah. Takes a lot of skinny pedal. Shifting points were fine and smooth.
PF5 worked perfect, as usual.
