What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Cracked my RH rear bumper cap coming off a rock ledge. Replaced it with a black one, Keystone P/N TO1105133C. The cap is intended to be installed while the whole bumper assy is off the truck. Doing this in-situ was more involved than I expected. Had to snake a screwdriver in the gap between the bumper and bedside to pop two button clips. Also had to pop up 4 of the top step pad clips to "persuade" the top flange under the step pad lip.

In contrast to the brittle OEM bumper cap, the Keystone cap is made of a much more flexible plastic similar to 2nd gen mud flaps. Hopefully it will hold up better off-road until I get a steel bumper.

The end caps from Rock Auto are much more flexible as well. I have a brand new set that will be going on B/S/T sometime in the near future since I've gone with a Fab Four bumper instead of swapping out the chrome ones. Just a heads up for anyone interested in getting rid of their chrome caps and going black. Very good quality and much cheaper than OEM.

I’ve taken my dash apart once and never again, it took forever to reassemble. He seems to disassemble the entire interior regularly, more patience than I have!

 

Put the finishing touches on the rear end black-out. VHT flame proof paint on the exhaust pipe & black chrome OEM tip.

 

wasn't his day job an audio installer? he could probably disassemble any dash in the dark. with his dick out.

 

Probably and I think there’s some pics around here for anyone into that. My issue is the interior never goes back together the same way and 2-3 screws and bolts left. Probably why I never became an engine mechanic.

Yeah mine was from Rock Auto. Keystone was the brand. According to the box label, Keystone is part of LKQ.

 

Never even looked at the brand. Still in the original boxes. Tapped a tree with my bumper and couldn't believe the damage. Decided at that point that getting rearended by someone wasn't worth the risk to passengers, myself or my Tacoma and decided that a real, formidable bumper was the way to go. Not on there yet but once it is I'll feel much better about my choice to replace all that plastic.

 

Cut the grass yesterday and jumped in the pool. No sign of winter down here in Baton Rouge.
