I hate having roomates. None have ever worked out except living with my girlfriend. We have zero issues.

Back in January my sister moved up from florida and I let her rent a room from me.

I will admit I'm a pain in the ass when it comes to keeping the "common" areas of the house clean, but its my house and I pay the mortgage.

Here are some of my "roomate annoyances" both currently and from past experiences.

Not knowing how to load the dishwasher properly.

Leaving dishes in the sink even though the dishwasher is within arms length of the sink.

Not putting things back where you found them in general.

Cooks a meal in the kitchen, cleans up and puts stuff away but doesn't wipe off the counters.

Leaves her purse in inconvenient places..such as right in front of the computer screen on the desk! (she has stopped doing this finally after yelling at her 1,000 times)

Not putting the remote back on the coffee table

What are some roomate annoyances you guys have?

Well I live in a dorm so no dishwasher, just a sink.

I hate when my roomate leaves dirty dishes in the sink "for later".

I hate when he leaves the x box on while we go to dinner or something so he doesn't have to turn it on again when we get back. He doesn't do this anymore.

Thats about it, I have a good roommate.

Coming home after a 24 hour shift in the morning and finding some douche sleeping in your bed, seeing peoples names written in piss on the block wall in your backyard from the party they had the night before and the whole house trashed.

Then after making them clean everything up having to apologize to the neighbor when she came by wondering how the fuck her trash can was filled up with a shit ton of beer cans and red cups. Needless to say that roommate was kicked out.

I had shitty roommates during my probie year at work. The last thing I wanted to do was come home and clean. I wanted to come home to my house the way that I left it. But that will never happen with roommates.

I had one that claimed he never used the dishes. So for a week we all washed our dishes by hand and then confronted him at the end of the week with a sink full.
Making a lot of noise at 9:00 AM when you work nights and get home at 7:30 AM.
Roommates brother kind of moving in and drinking everyone's beer and not replacing it and not paying rent. Took care of that one real quick.

Otherwise I have been pretty lucky.

leaving wet towels on the furniture, just wrong.

    Oh just thought of another..

Using a bunch of cups/glasses each day. Just use one and rinse it out. Quit getting a new cup everytime you want something to drink.

Ya. I wouldn't have cared as much if it was a girl that crashed in my bed. But no fucking way is a dude that isn't my friend going to pass out in my bed. It took me like three times to tell him to get the fuck out before he finally did. I almost punched him in the face to wake him up. I was furious.

Another times I came home to the morning after I party and the whole house was fucked up. The carpet was FILTHY. I just had them steam cleaning the week prior. People were passed out on the couches and floors so what did I do in my rage when they were hungover as fuck? I started ripping up the carpet and pushed/rolled the shit they were sleeping on out of my way with them still in it. Needless to say I was making a bunch of noise and they slowly got out. This explains why I put hardwood floors in that house.

I've heard of people buying plasticware and paper plates and kept them in their room. So that they would never have to do dishes.

I had a roomie in college that would piss in the only sink rather than walk 30 feet to a restroom. I wanted to kill that prick.

Years ago I had some roomates who's miniature dauschund peed/marked everything. Ruined a really nice sofa and loveseat that my mom gave me. Everytime I confronted them about it they said that kirby had been in the bedroom all day and he didn't pee in the house. BULLSHIT! The couch is still wet and smells like urine. When they moved out there was a big yellow square in the carpet in their bedroom from where their bed used to be (from him peeing under it) and yellow spots on the carpet where the corners of all the furniture were. They actually bailed on the lease about 3 months early and left my girlfriend and I to pay the rent. I steam cleaned it multiple times and couldn't get it out of the carpet. Fortunately my landlord said he was going to replace the carpet anyways so he gave me the whole deposit back (Including what they paid since they bailed! Sweet!)

The said part about that is me and my buddy don't talk much anymore since then. We actually lived together at another house and had zero issues but when his girlfriend moved in she was a bitch and made him change a lot. We have hung out a few times since they broke up and he's cool again.

I've got a pretty good list.... I own a house and have four roommates.

    1. MOOCHING-food, beer, whatever

    2. Leaving kitchen dirty or stacking the dish drying rack so high shit starts falling over instead of just putting stuff away too...

    3. Leaving shit in the middle of the room/garage thats right where people walk or work

    4. Bringing underage (under 21) people over to "party it up and drink"-that shit ended real quick

    5. Truck leaking oil on my driveway

    6. Being mean to MY dog

    7. Getting mad when the dog gets something when i specifiically told them not to leave it right where she can get it, no-i wont pay you back if i've told you a hundred times keep your shit picked up.

    more stuff im sure...

lol my dog does the same thing. All of my tables in my house are bar height because of that :D You also have to keep drinks off the coffee table because he will knock it over with his tail.

I had one who did laundry EVERY DAY! she swore she was allergic to dust mites so she changed her sheets everyday and washed her clothes after wearing them once.

It made me lol if you were allergic to dustmites you would be broken out of hives every day. Dustmites are everywhere no matter how much you clean.

I used to have a roomate in college that was the worst. His family was rich and he didnt have to do anything for money but I was working and going to school full time. He had a meal plan at the college and I didnt but he would eat all my food instead of going on campus and getting a meal, then lie about it. I would complain about him not buying toilet paper so he used to steal napkins from the school cafeteria and keep them in his room, even made his girl use them. The worst though was when he would take my wet clothes out of the washer and instead of putting them in the dryer just leave them wet on the kitchen table. I hated that asshole.
