Did you take into account that the larger tires throw off the speedometer & odometer.....and the computer spot out mpg?

I’m averaging 19 mpg overall with the v6 and keeping unnecessary idling to a minimum. That’s logging the miles and gas.....the computer has never been right. The other day it's reporting 22 mpg, I used 10 gal and had driven less than 200 mi.

I went from 265/75/16 to 285/75/16 as well, 30" to 32" in plain English.
Went from 16-17mpg or so to 12-15mpg.
I might just go back to stock size, for.my own needs I'm not sure I need that compromise.
I asked Discount Tire about going back to stock. 2 employees felt it was my 3"lift causing the mpg drop and not tire size.
I think they are crazy, as I feel it is all in the tire size. But curious what others think?

Probably somewhat of a combination, losing aerodynamics and adding rolling weight to the vehicle. Most of us do it all at the same time so hard to tell which plays the bigger role (I'd assume tires, but just guessing). I average 15 mpg with 3" lift and 33s.

    19mpg with 4" lift and 285s?

    Consider yourself lucky. I get 16mpg with a 6" lift and 285s.

The lift does more damage than the tires because of the significant increase in drag.

Basically, the lift hurts your highway mpg, and big tires hurt city mpg.

My wife buys the gas. I'm not sure if she would even notice if I went from 18.5 to 14. I'm definitely getting a lift, tires and a badass front bumper.

I didn't see much of a difference on street driving going from stock to 33, but on the freeway it's running at higher RPM's. I've not really tried to figure out the drop in MPG though.

Going up a hill at highway speed? Oh boy it's sucking wind and burning gas. Gonna re-gear as soon as I can afford it next year.

    Build thread coming soon.
Put a Garmin gps in your truck. Use the mileage from the gps and the gallons when you fill up. You will be surprised when you check your mileage, I was. I make high speed runs on the freeway (75-85 mph) then hit the lease roads, with long periods of idle time on location then high speed run back to home. Getting 17½ to 18½ every day. 3"lift 285-75-16 ko2's e range, full armor, diamond back & front runner rack.

I'm looking at 265/75/16 KO2s now that my stock tires are at 40k and winter is coming.

Only reason KO2s is BFGR on sale at Costco for $120 off. $750ish mounted and balanced. Sound decent?
    Change my mind.

Token anti- thread hijack: what do you think mileage will do from stock?

    The 265/75/16 ko2s only come on E-Rated as far as I know, so I think you’ll see a bigger hit than I did with 265/70/17 C-rated K02. The e-rated 16”s are heavy.

I believe with your tire choice most people see a 2-3 mpg drop, but others with direct experience should chime in.

    I could live with that.
Is that why you went with the 70s? Now ya got me thinking. Do I care about 70 vs 75 AR? Maybe I don't enough to pay more for gas...

Hey. Fuck me, I'm on topic!

Addendum: I just realized, you've got me thinking about new rims now too. Damn you!
