Been a productive Saturday, missing lake weekend with an expired registration so decided to work on the truck.

Finally got around to sanding some rust build up, from this:

Just updating this here in my build too. The truck is 100% back minus a fender flare.

 

...so almost 100%

hey man, truck looks awesome! quick question, i see that you don't yet have aftermarket UCAs. how long have you had the tires and/or the lift on there without the UCAs? does it eat up tires too badly or not?

 

I’ve had the MTRs for a few years I believe and they’ve held up great with just typical rotate and balancings. So yeah since the lift I’ve never had new UCAs, no irregular issues tbh.

 

hey man thanks alot! that really helps. i'm saving for a lift right now and it's good to know that i don't need to spend an extra $700 right outta the gate for new UCAs so long as i rotate the tires. also, what headlights are those? been looking for something similar but have been unable to find anything.

 

Thanks for the comments man. Yeah I’ve had UCAs on my wishlist for years but the $700ish to shell out isn’t so enticing. Also be sure they are aligned properly, probably more important than rotations.

The headlights are D2S projectors retrofitted with dual halos and HIDs. There are a couple people on this site that make them or you can try retrofitting yourself if you really wanted to. Might give a look at @LSC15 thats who I’ve done business with.

 

Nothing new to note other than I finally washed it after more than a year, then immediately got it dirty again camping at lost maples state park

 

Oh that’s right, well now that I’m at around 222k miles the truck needs the valve cover gaskets replaced as well as the rear main seal. Local dealership quoted me $2500 for everything, disregard the marking.

 

Sooo I said fuck that, I’ll research parts like I usually do.


Much better! Suck me off greed. The only job I’m worried about rn is the valve cover gaskets since I can easily smell burning oil after each trip. I have also already replaced the PCV valve and grommet.

 

I am going to do valve cover gaskets, spark plug tube seals, half moon seals, cam seals, and PCV when I install my supercharger...which I have sitting in my shop
