Looks like this was answered. I haven't driven any other year of third gen tacoma, but mine looks the same as all the pictures I've seen of other years.

If you haven't seen it already, you may want to check out the Diamondback modification thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diamondback-modification-thread.553966/

and on their website they have this, not sure if it would work for your purposes:

Thanks. I'll have to see how tall those bars are. I was just thinking some aluminum angled metal (L shaped), coat it and bolt it down to the panels. Tall enough to be a stopping point for something. I'd try just strapping stuff to the cover itself before I go drilling on it though. See how secure it is. It would mainly be things I wouldn't care if they got wet. Coolers, waterproof totes/crates, etc.

When we hunt out of state, we easily bring 3+ coolers. It will be nice to have somewhere to put them and not take up space under the cover.

I spoke with an out-of-state dealer today and put a deposit on an automatic TRD Offroad. It's coming with the Advanced Tech, LED light and Premium packages. There are also a lot of port added stuff like, wheel locks, all weathers with door sill, mudflaps, Predator tube steps, etc. Essentially stuff I don't care about, but didn't feel like fighting them on.

    MSRP $45,866
    Vehicle Price: $41,835
    OTD: $43,798.02

The truck should be on their lot at the end of the month and I've got to drive 6 hours to get it. You guys think I got a good deal?

With the price gouging and how close it is to the release date this seems fine to me. Congratulations! Glad to see I’m not the only one not getting an Army Green Pro

Short preface--- I am an accountant and the following will give you a small glimpse in how my mind works on such questions.

Depends on what your time is worth. If you mean 6 hour drive is 1 way then you are looking at a 12 round trip drive. Which could easily mean after in dealership time anywhere from 14 to 20 hour day, assuming of course you drive in process the paperwork and drive home.

You save $2068 less fuel roughly $135 so $1933 or 96.68 to 138/hour depending on dealership, fuel, and potty time (2 - 6 total hours)
If you eat 3 times while on the road to and from, it goes to 1873 or 93.65 to 133/hour with the same variable time assumptions
Add in a hotel stay... and it drops to 88.65 to 126/hour or less, again assuming the same time variables and not accounting for any time spent in the hotel as if you bought local you would likely spend the same time-ish asleep.

This is of course going on the assumption that you would have to pay full MSRP if you got the same truck locally, are traveling alone, and driving a trade-in up. Adding a copilot and/or rental then begins to decrease the hourly quickly.

Bottom line, if you are pleased with the savings and are willing/happy to spend your time driving 6-12 hours it is great. After all travel CAN be enjoyable, lots of stuff to see, time to think, etc. If you are married/involved, take your significant along, go to dinner, catch a show or some sites local to the dealership and call it a get-away while getting a new truck. I have driven hours to and into the keys, had nice alone time with my wife, but did not bring a new truck home. It was well worth the time. Would have been better if I got a new truck, boat, or something but It was great!

Go get your truck and enjoy it!!:burnrubber:

Flew up to Washington State and drove back almost 900 miles home in the same day to pick up mine. The savings and the manual transmission made it worth it, the extra paperwork from state to state was a little bit of a drag though. To each either own though.

$4k off msrp on a 2020 model just hitting dealer lots is a pretty good deal.

That drive though! You couldn't get the local dealership to price match or at least come close?

Looks like mine came in today! Now I’ll have to go argue with them about taking off the predator steps I didn’t order...
