I just put grounds in the cup, pour hot water in, stir, let the grounds settle and drink. Just be careful you don’t drink all of it.

I did a power project in CA a few years ago and it is very obvious that PG&E are so politically protected, that it is crazy. They still haven’t upgraded their distribution system that was the issue with the rolling blackouts years ago. It is all about the money, not about the people. If you go off the grid, you still have to pay $0.02 cents for every kW produced on your own property to PG&E because they have their infrastructure in the area. Also, if you have the ability to produce reasonable power, they reserve the right to force you to export to their grid to support them. Unless the good folks in CA want to start really looking at this for themselves it won’t change as they are being fed total BS about PG&E and what they are doing and how they are operating.
PG&E is the dolphin and I am sure you can guess who the people are...

I woke up at 4am last night and the power was off. I live off Summit Rd about 2 miles south of 17.

My favorite coffee when I'm traveling. I keep a pack of this in my every day carry: https://www.starbucks.com/menu/product/23/via?parent=/at-home-coffee/via-instant/dark-roast

Just boil some water, put it in the cup with your cream & sugar, and stir. I have respect for the rest of you that have the various hardware to boil & brew your coffee outdoors.

The area that I live in has been unaffected by the current power outages, but I have a couple of decent lanterns, a propane BBQ grill (worst case scenario for earthquakes, if the gas is shut off), but nothing to power or properly charge my electronic devices. I'm seriously considering buying one of these: https://antigravitybatteries.com/pr...MIwrb8wtiU5QIV8iCtBh3iWADGEAAYAyAAEgKhSvD_BwE

You can charge up and run your devices off of this and jump start your vehicle. Very portable, comes with various cables for different uses, and has its own carrying case.

I highly recommend this specific model generator. I have the previous model that they sold for as low as $149, but didn't have the parallel generation capability.

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Sportsm...ith-Parallel-Connection-GEN1000I-PL/308894783

The first one you get might not work though. I had to return the first one and order another before I found a good working one (which is common for this brand). However, the value is very very good. It can run your fridge, laptop, a few lights, and your home internet. It can also charge your truck's battery if you're using an inverter off the truck to run other stuff.

    I guess...

same parent company, no? Seems like instead of investing in infrastructure, despite increasing rates, they are utilizing capital to shmooze with their 1% customers. I’ve got no stake living on the other side of the country but seems like bullshit to me, especially when the ceo makes a comment about it.

Thank you for the suggestion! That looks affordable and would cover me for my refrigerator/freezer and router needs. I'm also considering getting a portable solar panel that I can put outside to charge my devices with free solar power.

My take on the PG&E blackout issue. Their infrastructure is old and needs to be updated, especially in the rural areas. The gas lines that leaked and blew up the entire neighborhood in San Bruno in 2010 is a good example. I see the blackouts as form of punishment to their customers in the outlying areas for their legal lawsuits against PG&E which forced them to file for bankruptcy when they're a powerful business organization that has lobbied in the state senate. I feel bad for the people who are waiting for the insurance settlements to rebuild their homes. The same could be said about the old water pipes that supply water to their customers by the water companies that operate in California.

Well yeah, it's BS. but if someone's corrupt dad gives their kid 1,000 bucks on their 18th birthday, I'm gonna bet that some of that money is going to a strip club, a pack of cigarettes, lotto tickets, and booze.

Human nature is pretty shitty until some rules are explained or put in place.
