PA in your truck?

I wanna get one cus i think it would be fun as hell to mess around with. I have a cobra CB that can toggle between cb and pa...so i just need a pa speaker right? And that would just connect to the back of the cb right?


any brand recommendations or speaker recommendations?

sometimes i wish i had one when driving home...4 lane rd and people roll side by side at 50mph in a friggin 70 zone...lol

 

they sure do....that's where i got mine. you need the speaker, a standard headphone jack and however many feet of wire.

and i'd recomend not using it for the purpose of "messing around", not even friends. i use mine on trails when it's hot as balls, that way i can ask my spotter questions and keep the cool air in the cab (i know, dick move, but he gets beer later, so it'd good). also used it when i volenteered to use my truck in a parade, and they needed a way for the float to play audible music for the people watching. worked surprisingly well jsut holding the mic. to the stereo speaker. but i'm getting off topic......things to know, 1) radio shack 2) don't be dumb once you have it.
otherwise, it's a very easy install, the hardest part you'll have is deciding on where to put it.

This is a simple PA Speaker. it is amplified and has a standard input jack.
The install is fairly simple as this model does not need an on/off switch.

I also have an aux option on my CB. If i conect the speaker to that jack, it will play what the CB recives. it comes in handy so you could here the comunications while your out of your truck.

 

okay so i just need to get the speaker and a 3.5mm audio cable, which will just plug into my cb and it's good to go right?

 

correct, speaker, wire, headphone jack. you'll need access to a soldering iron too.
you'll also need some hardware to secure it.

oh, one little tip, make sure you identify the positive and negative terminals on the headphone jack correctly (this is from personal experience). if you get them backwards, the speaker will still work, but you won't get the volume and clarity as you would if hooked up correctly....took me a couple months to figure that one out

 

I heard they are illegal to use when you are in your truck. That's the law here.

 

pretty sure that's true in all 50 states while on public roads

 

if you're going at 50mph you're not going to be able to hear a little PA speaker that just simply plugs into your CB.


People can pretty much only hear mine whenever I'm completely stopped.

 

^^^ depends greatly on location... i had mine under my hood for a while, behind the fuse box, and you could only hear it when i was stopped. i now temporarily have it mounted with the open end of the speaker going directly out the hole for the winch in my all pro bumper, and now it's audible when driving. (temporary, because a winch is in the works, then i have to relocate it again)

 

a pa would be awesome...to bad im electrically challenged

i had a BIG PA speaker under my truck at one point...... dont know where it went lol the part that mounted to the truck was still their but the speaker was missing lol guess a mud pit or rock took it off lol
