07 Tacoma engine cuts out

    My mechanic just installed a Jasper built engine in my 07.
    While test driving all was fine until the rpm was pushed up to 3200 rpm when #2 and #4 cylinders cut out and did not come back until after shut down and restart.
    At restart all was good again until 3200 rpm where it again repeated #2 and #4 shut down. Any suggestions?

    Well that's not good. You need a little more data though. BUT both 2 and 4 are on the drivers side (bank 2). Gives you a spot to visually look for problems.

    My thoughts are engine load related but could be an issue with the timing and vvt or fuel delivery. A blocked cat will also have similar misfire problems

    That crossed my mind as a potential but I wasn't sure given the consistency of the problem occurring at 3200rpm

    What year is the Jasper engine from? You can only use 2005-2011 domesticated tocoma 1gr-fe in that truck. Is it a JDM by chance?

    Swap # 2 and 4 coils with say # 1 and 3 and see if the issue moves if it does it is the coils that are breaking down. If it doesn't it rules the coil out of the problem.
