I washed my truck for first time maybe in 2019, I’m not real sure it was getting kinda cruddy looking around the rubber on glass.

anyways my leafs quit squeaking after wash lol

also yes the inside stays clean, wiped, and vacuumed, I just don’t care much for washing vehicles.

There was a rumor the new ZO6 was getting a flat plane crank. Seems impractical though. You’d have to rev it to the moon to get to the power so it wouldn’t be much fun on the street.

Maybe I’m getting old but the convertible with 500hp 6.2 seems more desirable. If I want to racecar I’ll build one.

    Hey fellas,

I'm moving to Huntsville next week and I'm starting from scratch when it comes to trusted places to take my cars (and bikes). I'm looking for any personal recommendations for good mechanic shops. Here I have 3 different shops I go to for different things, so I'm curious what the situation is down there. What I'm looking for:

    1. A good mechanic that can do maintenance and service work on my two cars (Taco and a JDM). From basic oil changes to suspension work, clutch upgrades, etc.
    2. A shop that can help me build up the Taco, so new bumpers, winch, perhaps some body work for larger tires, etc., as well as additional suspension/lift work. Basically an off-road truck specialty shop.
    3. HUGE bonus... a shop that can do engine work on a JDM car, ideally with an AWD dyno. I don't want to say "tuner" but... tuner :)

I realize #3 especially may not be available in HSV, but if you guys have ANY tips on nearby tuners (TN, GA, FL, etc.) I'm all ears. Shops for #1 and #2 will be of huge help for now, though, as those will be used sooner and more frequently.

    Thanks!

Congratulations Huntsville is a pretty good small city. Mind if I ask who you’re going to work for?
    As for your questions.

    1. You’ll almost always find someone here to help you with mod stuff. There are a lot of us in HSV and several of us have well outfitted garages we don’t mind letting people use as long as they want to learn.

    2. We got a bumper guy @Jerneyman or you can just order one and we’ll help you put it on; same for suspension and whatever else. Rocket City Off Road is a shop here but I have never used them and the reviews I’ve heard weren’t great. There is also Southern OffRoad in Pelham about an hour away but I think they only work on hard core rigs.

    3. What kind of tuner? JDM with AWD and turbo....DSM or EVO? There are a few engine builders around a night at the drag strip would give you some leads. As far as I know there are 0 accessible AWD dynos in Alabama. APR in Auburn has one but last I knew it was for their Audi/VW research only. I’m pretty sure Atlanta has one but it is 4 hours from Huntsville. Hope this helps. Welcome to the circus :bananadance:

Thanks for the reply! I admit that I didn't realize how spoiled I've been by the shops up here. I always imagined the South crawling with truck shops, I guess there is my Yankee bias showing ;) I'd rather not disclose where I'll be working on the internet, but if we meet up I'm happy to share.

I'd be happy to pair up with you guys on some of the truck work for sure, I'm always eager to learn. But I think I'll still search around for a decent all-around mechanic as I like having that available. I'll report back if I find one.

I have an Evo, used to be my daily but now is a garage queen. It runs like a top, but it's one of those things you can never leave alone for too long, so I'm sure I'll need a tuner eventually. I don't mind a 4 hour drive to Atlanta or similar, my tuner up here is about the same distance away.

Looking forward to meeting you guys!
