Already have good setup up front - but I'm using a block for the rear. Is is a better choice to get some expensive rear shocks, or a full leaf pack?

My setup is 3" coilover and 3" full leaf springs with 5100 bilstien shocks.

But to answer your q, It's not even good to run a block in the in my opinion. Full leafs, but get a kit that has the shocks with it. As for the front get Adjustable bilstien shocks and if your stock coil is good use it. Do you go off roading much? If so a pair of coilovers is what you want.

hover over my icon thing below my avatar to see what I have. Yeah I offroad quite a bit, and everything is great up front. But in the rear i have a block + pro comp extended length shocks. Up front I have dirt logic 2.5 coilovers and camburg uca uniball. I am debating buying fox for the rear OR a full deaver leaf pack.

deaver leaf pack! Sorry dude I'm still new to the site didn't know you can do that haha. I have the All-Pro 3" kit. I love it great ride on the rode with great flex as well. With that you get the 5100's and brake line extension in the kit.

It seems that you under the impression that shocks can lift the rear? Beacuse they can't in a leaf spring setup. The options for rear lift are the block, shackles, and AAL for your existing leaf springs, or a new leaf pack. I think that is it. Of the four, the new leaf pack is the best option, because the others all come with perfromance issues or wear out stuff, or don't last. So for long-term value and best performance, go for a leaf pack if you have the funds for it. Then match shocks accordingly for whatever height you add.

no i have a block in the rear already...the rear suspension is already lifted. im looking to either replace the block with a full leaf pack and keep my current rear shocks. OR keep the block and my current leafs, and buy really good shocks.

D'oh! Ah, OK. I understood you had the block, but the rest was a bit confusing. Hell, I'd say spend the funds on the leaf pack. It will do wonders to eliminate (or dramatically reduce )the axle wrap that block must be adding to the already noticeable axle wrap of the stock leafs alone.

If you get new springs, they are going to be lift springs right? If so you can't use your stock shocks, because they will get damaged being fully extended. If you get springs that are stock height then you can reuse the stock shocks.

If you wheel quite a bit you need to invest in full packs and new shocks. Don't get an AAL, they are not worth it. Yes, I am bias towards the full packs. If you wheel don't go cheap, go cheap if your cruising the malls and curb crawlin.
