I'm ok with this. He is not taking up anyone else's spot. Just protecting his investment. I'll do this if I can't get a spot next to a curb. Door dings suck a fat one. I guess you can accuse me of asshole parking.

Good purchase, bad investment. Oh and parked in no parking zone, why do they get to not follow the rules?

Doesn’t effect another person parking, just maybe those taking the corner

When I take a pic of these idiots I actually hope that they ask me what I'm doing. I stay calm and politely say "Good Afternoon. I teach Driver's Education at Franklin High School and whenever I see poor driving or parking, I try to capture those moments to use in class. Thanks for your contribution."

They don't know how to respond. Nobody has EVER said one word. They know that their F&*cked up. They are now embarassed that their actions will be displayed to the next generation of American drivers.

5' 10" and 200 lbs. The key is to not be an asshole, just act professional. Let their own jackassery sink-in and be a reflective moment. Or be humorous. Example: just yesterday at WalMart I witnessed a rather large/obese woman get one of those powered wheelchair-handi-shopping-carts and proceed to do all her shopping. At checkout, she was in front of me. As we moved to parking she stopped her handi-cart adjacent to her vintage Lexus. Then she magically stood up and managed to unload her groceries with no problems. I said "It's a miracle." as I backed out. Why a miracle? Because she was "cured" of her handicap in time to unload her cart. God works in mysterious ways.

I embarrassed the hell out of myself about 10 years ago trying something like that to the point where I haven’t done it since. Healthy enough woman, mid to late 40s, thin, scooting along. I got into my own head and muttered something about “handicapped my ass” when she got out to her car. She quietly and calmly informed me about what life with muscular dystrophy is like, and how her inevitable decline will lead to her death. Talked about how a good day can quickly go bad. Lectured me like I was 5, and damned if I didn’t deserve it. I apologized to her and have kept my tongue since.

Yes, there are a lot of fucking slobs out there taking advantage of capability services, but you never quite know who actually needs them.

A few years ago at Sams Club a rude woman cut off another woman in line then proceeded to walk to the parking lot where she was loading a big ass cart full of groceries in her car while being parked in the handicapped spot. As I walked by I said "handicapped my ass". After she finished she drove down to my car and started a heated conversation with me. Really pissed me off when she threw out a racial slur when I mentioned how rude she was to the older woman in the store that she cut in front of. She then told me that there are many types of handicaps. I then told her that having a mental handicap didn't justify her being able to park in a handicap spot that's for physical disabilities. Needless to say that didn't go over well either...lol. You know people know they are in the wrong when they easily get defensive. Happens all the time. I have been hurt before and know what it's like to struggle to get in and out of a car and to shop for groceries amongst other things. Hate people that abuse handicapped parking especially when there are those that really need it.

Agree. I'm disabled myself, and have become a very good observer and have fine-tuned my ability to know the liars/fakers/lazy from true handicapped citizens.

I feel like a shit bag when I use the handicap spots, so I only use them after long trips or there are at least a few closer to the door than one I'm looking at. Some days i could take an APFT at the 18-21 age level, other days I need my wife's help to put 15 pounds of groceries in the car and get into that big bitch (the truck lol).

I still feel guilty, but then I see the other DV plates, wheelchair tags and so on with their electric scooters and walkers and sometimes they're good, sometimes they're not. Sometimes i have difficulty holding myself up after 10 steps, sometimes i can pick up $100+ in groceries in under 15 minutes. It sucks.

Sorry you have issues. Those parking spots are for those like you and no need to feel bad about it. I got hit by a car from behind a few years back and now have a rod and 3 screws in my right leg. It's never good when you look down and see your bone sticking out from the inside. I had the opportunity to get a temporary handicap pass but decided against it even though I was using a walker and crutches for many months. I felt there were those that needed it more than me. Hang in there and I hope things improve.

Thanks, man. I still feel bad every time I use it, unless it's an empty parking lot then it's funny when my friends are following me.

    My issue with this discussion...

A few years back I twisted my ankle really bad at a pickup football game. While at walmart I was indeed using the scoot-a-round because my ex wife who used to be big into couponing was doing some serious shopping and I was having a hard time walking. ( had to be there... according to her... to help with the kids)

Manager actually ran me down and told me I had to give it up... someone 'more disabled' needed it. I was young... I could manage.

Made me limp all the way back to my car. Didnt offer assistance... nothing.

Now I've never tried to take away from someone needing assistance due to a disability... but singling me out because I look like a healthy 20something and thinking I couldn't possibly need assistance myself... that really pissed me off.

There's 2 sides to that coin.

They don’t know how to put the letters in order, so maybe we should give them a break and soon maybe they can color in the lines.
