yeah, My set up with the CB and Firestick antenna and cable came to about $100, maybe less.
the hard part is wiring it up and tuning the antenna but it can be done in a day.

4' would be on the tall side, but it will work well. 3' would do just fine as well.

Hey did you ever re-ground the antenna? We might need to retune at the meet.

what did you go with for that? how much and where did you get it?

    :(:(:(:(

Bad news. Well ladies and gents, I can't make it to the meet. My wife has been having more contractions and she feels the baby can come any day. It's been a difficult pregnancy for her.

I absolutely hate to miss this meet and greet/trail run. I've been looking forward to this trip for the past month with nothing but excitement and anticipation. I was hoping to get to meet all of you. Again, as much as I hate to miss this run I would hate to miss the birth of my baby girl even more. Hopefully you all can understand.

I look forward to viewing all the pictures and hearing the stories from this EPIC Arizona gathering. I'd ordered 2 - "ATOM" shirts maybe David (YumaTRD) can grab them for me I hope.

I did reground, once i sanded the surface to get better ground. I actually ordered a cheap SWR meter on monday and hope it gets here by Friday to tune it before the meet. If it doesn't arrive, then i will need to meet up to do that.

I bought an older version (for $15) of this speaker from radioshack. VVV
    http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=4371942

it was simple to install. i just had to buy a longer aux speaker cable. so the total cost less than $30. You could check it out at the meet and see how you like it.

Just a bunch of old crap
Sitting next to me at my desk is my new 50W PA speaker and 150W amp that was just delivered and I'm going to hook up tonight. I hope this shit is as loud as I expect it to be, or louder. If it works well, maybe I'll get another speaker for the other channel since I can't bridge the amp or I'd blow the speaker. The current 15W speaker I have now is enough to get me in trouble, so I have my fingers crossed.

    I love overkill.
