That seems like an awful lot to cram into 2 weeks IMO.

I’ll second the Escalante recommendation as well. Also, while Florissant Fossil Beds is nifty, and worth a visit eventually, it’s a bit out of the way for this trip. As far as RMNP, a hike up in to Glacier Gorge (Mill’s Lake) never disappoints, views-wise. Since you’ll be there, might as well drive over Trail Ridge Road. Between RMNP, and stuff West of there, I’m pretty sure you’ll see enough moose to skip Brainard (which is a bit of a zoo).

    no tarps! promise!

MT is Montana. I did all 5 UT parks in 8 days. And ND/SD in 10 days. I just always feel like as long as I'm making the drive somewhere I might as well pack as much in as I can. One day here and one day there is my norm. I'm not the sit on a beach with an umbrella drink kinda girl when it comes to vacations. I want to get out and see as much as I can, always on the move. I love driving and love our National Parks.
Crowds in the parks aren't really a surprise. I'm used to it here in Yellowstone and I doubt what I find in Estes Park will be any different than the average day up here.
Hidden gems are what I'm looking for too. The main stream stuff is nice but getting away and having a trail or a lake all to myself is awesome too.

Have not looked into Escalante before but I will check it out! When I did my UT trip a couple years ago I know I packed too much in but I still had a blast and would do it all over again if I had the chance. And one of the highlights of the trip? A last minute stop at Kodachrome basin State Park. Little hole in the wall kinda place but it was beautiful and not crowded. Little surprises like that make these whirlwind trips worth it

Again...all 5 UT parks in 8 days. Crazy? Sure. But memorable trip? Definitely. Wouldn't change it for anything.

I would love to add that but I think I'd need a week for that alone! This trip is mostly focused on National Parks with a few other stops long the way.

Kinda figured Flourisant would be on the route between RMNP and Sand Dunes? Am I wrong? Or is it just too many small highways and stuff to get through there?
And I already go to great extremes in distance and in crowds to find the mooses...I see a lot of the IG accounts I follow posting moose pics from Brainerd so it has become one of those "msut see" stops for me.

My bad, I missed the Sand Dunes bit. Yeah, Florrisant is definitely on the way, and worth the stop. If you're headed that way, I'd recommend something like this:
    https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Boz...c1fa2d73b!2m2!1d-107.3153335!2d38.0299967!3e0
(not sure where you're starting from, that would probably change the first part of the route)
From Lake City, over Engineer Pass (someone else might have a better suggestion) to Ouray, from there North to Escalante Canyon.

The first one to go out on mine was the actuator on the front diff. Found an OEM one online for $300. It’s easy to swap out (4 bolts, a vacuum line and an electrical connector) Shortly after that the tcase actuator went out ($600-800 for the part) and that’s when I swapped to an FJ tcase.

Take the front one off and open it up. You might be able to clean the corrosion off the electrical contacts inside.B5A8AA68-E907-4E45-94AD-3D1E3D30A101.jpg This is the one off my tcase after I cleaned it.

You should try and stop at Bishop Castle: http://www.bishopcastle.org/ it's between the fossil beds and Sand Dunes and really is a cool experience.

What was weird is I didn’t get a clicking from the relay when all this happened..
Shut it off for a half hour and everything works as it should..
    (Relay clicking 4hi/4lo)
idk if this is a sign the acuator is failing or the relay was just being finicky..

I loved my 95 with the locking hubs and gear shift none of this electronic shit..

When mine first started it would get stuck in 4wd. Blinking 4wd light. Turn truck off for a while and leave selector in 2wd and it would work after a while. Weird. If you have a shorty Phillips head screwdriver you should be able to take the plastic cover off of the front actuator without taking the whole thing out. Might be worth a look plus if it’s clean you could seal the cover with sealant too.

Should just have to drive in reverse with the selector on 2wd then forward and it should come out.

What is the best way to turn on and off 4lo in the second gens? Everytime I do I have to shut the truck off. This is for a manual 2008

Are you going from 4hi to 4lo?
Are you completely stopped, in nuetral and have the clutch pushed all the way in?
Have you tried letting it roll a bit??
    That’s all I got :D

yeah I am going from a fully engaged 4hi to 4lo. Neutral and parking brake on then rolling forward a little. Ill try the clutch and see if that changes anything at all
