Yea, I'd take the 3rd gen.
I'll prob take the jeep as I don't want to hold people up on the trail if it gets difficult.

 

Once we get to the split at Auger hole, prob best to send 1 truck up to make sure they didn't fix the gate. If we have 5 trucks up there and that gate is fixed or locked....its going to be a mess getting back out.

Great ride today with Kent and Kyle.
Auger hole was indeed open. I think my GPS said some like 20 miles with an avg of 6mph spd.

Auger hole was pretty cool.

Found my map I've been looking for at the welcome center. You have to ask for it, it's not out with all the other maps. It's yuge!

Is that the map they used to sell at the Holly Springs store? I had that scanned by a plotter into a massive TIFF file. It's too big to open on my phone, though.

So Auger Hole was open at the bridge into the game lands? Did you make it to the border?

Yea, it was open at the bridge from the Gorges side. There were actually 2 gates at the border. One was green, the other red, but it was painted yellow.

We stumbled upon a spur off to the left somewhere around the muddy area, I think. May have been closer to the border.

 

Do you remember the trashed out abandoned car that we all turned around at? The border gate is only about a mile or 2 from there.

 

And the big muddy stretch was just after the abandoned car, from the Gorges side.

Where the hell’d that mud come from? Only dirt I’ve seen the last 6 months was dust.

I’m gonna join you South Carolinians on this trail next season. That looks fun.
