Performance upgrades

Hello all from a new member! I own a 1996 Tacoma(4yrs. now), w/ 149K miles.It has 3.4L,5spd.& 4wd. Im looking for a way to increase towing performance to pull my 19 ft. Airstream. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

 

well it pretty much comes down to how much money you want to spend. But heres a few.

Deckplate Mod, Headers, Cat-Back, Intake, Supercharger. Theres plenty you can do it just costs some Mulah.

no none makes a "chip" for tacomas because they have non-programmable ecu's. check out www.urdusa.com for everything you will need to make more power. they specialize in toyotas, especially tacomas and 4runners with the 5vz 3.4 motor.

 

Ya I second URD. They are the best in products and definatley customer service. Good luck trying to decide what you want to do with it.

 

Just add a supercharger 100 hp more, some add a leafs springs, class IV hitch and electric brakes on the trailer.

What class IV hitch did you go with?

 

i'm not going to say anything but 2oo7 was an awkward year iirc

 

Is made by hidden hitch

Actually is a class V by hidden hitch rated at 5500 pounds.

With stainless steel tongue so it wouldn’t rust to the hitch.

And power brake actuator

 

that’s a class iii hitch with an antiquated regan era rating. V5 doesn’t mean anything anymore. But nice hitch

 

Ohh, ok , well that hitch is 20 years old, anyways rated at 5000 pounds
and I pull a 18 foot enclosed trailer double axle with electric brakes
over the mountains to 10,000 feet with zero issues

 

Bought my truck to move myself across the country. Those are some encouraging words

 

If your going with a lot of weight I would definitely make sure the trailer has electric brakes.
Tacoma brakes are ok but with a trailer probably not so good if its heavy or just go slow and careful And double axle is safer
