Loaded to about 5,000 lbs with family, truck cap, gear, and a travel trailer proved to be to much for my Taco.

    Meet my new rig :)

i'd love a tundra but unfortunately i live in a downtown area so parking would be pretty much next to impossible at most places

    I was just messing around.

I had a tundra rental for a month during the rear diff recall, and best highway mpg I got was 17, however I regularly get 23 on the tacoma and the mixed 20 is about 5-6 higher than the Tundra.

That only amounts to an extra $500 of gas a year, not a big deal and I actually considered buying one recently due to the sweet v8, and bed space but with the next gen around the corner and OVtune making the Tacoma more fun, I have been rethinking it..

If the tundra was offered in a MT, I would have considered. But have no need for it. Congrats on the new ride.

Sweet truck. I went the opposite way, from Tundra to Tacoma. I was getting 17.5 mpg in Tundra vs 23.5 in Tacoma. Really miss the slide down rear window.

Looks good, I’ve debated between the 2 for the last 3-4 months while waiting on the 20s to hit the lot. I’m leaning towards the taco if they will work with my on my trade in, it books for more than all the options I want...

You give up a little gas mileage and maneuverability, but the trade off is never having to worry about towing, along with roomy comfortable interior and plenty of bed space. As pointed out, about $500 a year extra gas cost which is not that much to pay if the aforementioned features are important to you, and nibble off roading is not a priority. There's probably quite a few Tacoma owners that would be better off with a full sized truck.

Congrats on the new truck. I'm not sure how people are getting 20+mpg in a Tacoma, I'm getting 15 mpg tops with winter grade fuel and stock sized winter tires - Tundra wouldn't be a big change at all :D Enjoy the new beginnings!

I would do the same if I had to haul stuff.
I have my T100 still if I need to haul more than I can fit in the bed of the Taco, but if I needed more towing capacity I would go Tundra.
Not getting rid of my Taco though :)

I went the opposite way also. Had my tundra for twelve years or so and never got better than 13mpg out of it. Nice ride though. Comfortable and roomy. Totally miss it. Just don’t miss it’s insatiable thirst for Dino juice...
