Maybe your truck is just a dog. You can’t lump them all into one basket. You’ve got people telling you that there is no problem with theirs And you are trying to write them off as kool aid drinkers. You just can’t keep complaining about your problem while hoping it changes. You have to do something about it. Here would be the options if I were in your shoes. 1. If I like everything else about my Tacoma, I would try a new one. 2. If the truck really doesn’t do it for me, cut my losses and trade it in for a different make or model. 3. Turn up the stereo and enjoy the ride. I’ve driven some real pieces of shit in my early driving days and I found number 3 helped out a lot.

Degenerative disk disorder put 29 years of rowing my own gears to an end. On the plus side, I’m able todrive myself to physio, or to the pharmacy to refill my pain prescriptions, when it flares up.

No feed back on the auto shifting issues, as mine is not Toyota. Just pointing out that it isn’t always a matter of lack of skill, or laziness, that prevents some from driving a standard.

Some people just seem to have a really hard time understanding that. I think it’s the “premium” label and subsequent increased price they put on higher octane that creates the false sense of performance in their minds.

They think because it’s called “premium” and costs more that it will somehow magically increase performance never realizing all it does is retard burn rate which does nothing for an engine not tuned to that specific rate.

100% understand. I know that can be painful. Maybe something with a smoother suspension would help too. Good luck.

It’s all good. Didn’t mean to single you out in particular. Just the notion that driving a standard is an option for everyone. If only I could. I miss it very much sometimes. It’s a very satisfying thing, to shift your own gears. Maybe I’ll have the time and the space for a ‘fun’ car someday.

Sell the Taco and buy something else. Not really sure what you're looking for here...

A few additions to make me feel cool.
I find it funny that everyone posting about the OP needing a hug and expressing his concern are in fact the ones who are unable to have an intelligent conversation about the shortcomings of the 3rd gen without being offended and ganging up on the OP is the method in which they are all consoling one another. A strong man can stand alone, the weak tend to run in packs.

    Lol.

A strong man will do what needs to be done, the weak will blame others and complain without taking any action- imo if course- but you just keep doing you.

Look, When I'm not using it as a TRUCK it is pleasant to drive around in BUT this thing is advertised by Toyota as being very capable. My problems are not isolated to my truck , read some of these replies and tell me that I stand alone , I call BS on that. I'd bet anyone who uses theirs in a trucklike fashion has encountered issues at some point. If yours is all good then Im happy for ya, wish I could say the same. There are a lot of you on here that act like your on Toyota's payroll.
