Curious with the ov tune do you need to run premium gas or can I run regular unleaded is there a Noticeable difference between stock tune.

i can see there are different tunes for the different octane levels but what is difference between them.

is it really worth the price tag. I’m not really liking the idea of spending extra $ at the pump.

There is a big difference over stock on just the 87 tune. Then the higher octane tunes have more power and torque than the 87 tune

I have a 2016 TRD Sport 04B04 that is stock running 91 or 93 octane fuel. I previously stated that I liked the 19800 tune, but after driving it for 500+ miles it feels more like a base tune. I don’t know if it got mellower since I initially loaded the tune, but I switched back to the 19700 tune.

Your dealer might also update yours. I asked mine since there is a known issue of erratic shifting especially on hills. They updated mine to 04B04 with very little push-back. Other dealers are not as helpful as others have mentioned.

I've run 87 tunes and 91 tunes. 87's have been good, but 91's are better. They are smoother shifting and feel more refined. Whether it is worth the extra $ is a personal decision. I see one, maybe 2 mpg improvement. Last fill up was $2.29 for 87 and $2.89 for 91. I won't make that back on mileage alone. I've seen the prices closer and run 91 for a while. Many here will say improved driving experience is all that matters. You'll have to try both and decide for your self.

Both are sooo much better than stock.

Completely agree that 19800 throttle feels like a base tune in comparison to 19770. Just wish 19770 could be run on 87 Octane due to the recent hike in prices out here on the west coast.

I agree, but 19800/87 still gets with it when I bury the pedal more than 1.05/87/base.

19800/91 is on my tdl before I provide feedback to Mat.

True. But ... on those long drives and having to depress the pedal in all the time sure does get tiresome on the leg. That was one of my main messages to Mat via ZD feedback submission. Also stated I’m not one to use CC much if at all.

updating from 04B01 should be very easy with a dealership. Tell them you have shift flares, delayed reverse to drive engagement, erratic shifting, harsh 1st-2nd.... a plethora of issues with that ECU. Give them TSB 0077-16 cause that would have the most issues covered. I believe that once a new TSB comes out the older TSB is retired so by asking for 0077-16 (ECU 04B02 or 04B03 depending on which version) will automatically give you the 04B04 calibration.

Wasn't able to install these beauties today. :(

I was able to remove the manifold nuts, secondary cat nuts, and transmission bracket nuts. Also disconnected the O2 sensor harness. But still couldn't get the manifold out of there. Looks like secondary cats or entire y-pipe assembly may need to be removed to allow the manifold to be maneuvered out. Regardless, didn't have the gaskets for those and starting to get frustrated so buttoned it back up. Maybe I should just pay a shop to do it...

A competent shop should be able to do it in a couple hours. Probably worth the $200-300 it would cost.

I’m all about 19770. After getting used to the aggressive tip in I am able to have smooth take-offs but the after burners are always right there. So easy to maintain speed and passing is a breeze. Best mpg’s for my truck so far.
And @PapaRee , see you on the Tiger Eye in 10 minutes brother! Should be one hell of a game. Go Gators!!

It's really not that difficult, if you disconnect the exhaust hangers on the exhaust you have a lot of wiggle room.

This isn't an issue or ZD question but rather a feeler.

Quick question for the guys running 2.0 betas. Do you reset the AT and LV values when flashing new betas?

I'm not sure if it's me missing the ECT on take off but 1.05 (which I reset both AT and LV) was great when running the 04A60 ECU.
As soon as I got the TSB and updated to 04A61 I flashed 19800 91 octane on 4.88 (without resetting either) as I have 5.29 gears and noticed take off and gear selection wasn't as "strong"?
I tried the ECT and GL but I myself dont prefer/like using GL on the daily as 1.05 has done great previously.
I'm pondering reflashing 1.05 again but now on the 04A61 ECU calibration. However I want to give the Beta tune a chance and wondering if I need to just reset AT and LV to yield the most out of it? Any input is appreciated.
