I just had my 3rd knee replacement revision surgery a week ago and I've got a 1/4" wide scar that's 17" long and needed 68 staples to close

Any ideas to create a cool looking Military style Tattoo????

    Nope got out in 1984

I was thinking something like a USMC K -Bar at one end of the scar with red ink as blood dripping then our saying " Pain is weakness leaving the body "

Same happens with Army guys. Seen lots of guys come and go, usually one enlistment where they bitched the entire time, and then tat up after. That is NOT saying the OP or anyone here is like that. Just falls in with the comment and annoys me to no end. That is also not to degrade anyone for only doing a single enlistment. I often think I might be better off having not stayed in or done multiple deployments. Service can be a very love hate relationship and we can only do what we think is right for us at the time.

Ok back on track! One thing I would say is to not commit to too much too early. I have some scars that were years old and still didn’t accept ink very well if at all. It might be better to have the actual scar be part of the tattoo if you want it sooner then later.

Maybe one edge of a tear is the scar, the other is a scar looking tat. You could have one of the USMC symbols coming out of the tear.

I know you’re a car guy so maybe alter the parts a bit to look like gears along the edge of the globe. Possibly pulling at a chain wrapped around the anchor. Robotic or metallic eagle, just kind of spit balling. Personally I like something a bit more personalized and original with hidden or small meaningful aspects.

How about a plate with DZUS buttons over the entire scar area then printed on the plate " remove for maintenance / repair
