Just looked at the VSC wiring diagram, and the speed signal still only comes from the transmission/transfer case speed sensor on manual trucks. You should be reading fast just like Randy and my truck. Are you running any kind of speedo calibrator?

I'm gonna start unplugging sensors tomorrow to determine what feeds the cluster.

 

Start with the speed sensor in the transfer case, since that should be it.

 

So there's definitely no sensor in the tranny, just the tcase harness and 4 wheel speed sensors. We shall see if i remember.

 

One of the plugs on the tcase should be a speed sensor. It's in the tcase on 4x4 trucks and in the trans on prerunners. Unless they changed something on later trucks. The wiring diagrams online that I reference are from '05s.

That is the same conclusion I came to after doing some research. At first I thought taco was using the gps, but then realized that would be inaccurate do to terrain. My taco with 33” tires reads 75, gps Reads 77.

This is the same thing I experience with the larger tires. Speedo says 50 while GPS (Waze) says 54. It's proportional for me, at 20 I'm going 22...
