1st real freeze with my truck, and when i go to turn her over, she begins to whine nice and loud at me till i warm her up nice and good. Sounds like my lady.
Seems like it might be coming from the front driver side of the engine, down by the compressor. Is this typical or may i have a pulley going on me soon... any thoughts?

Hard to diagnose without a recording/video but a simple fix would be to check your serpentine belt. Have you recently replaced your belt in the past few years? Now might be the time to swap it out. Mine is starting to squeal in the early mornings when the truck is wet from dew or after a rain.

I get whining when it cold or cold and wet. I'm pretty sure it's a pulley bearing. Only lasts a few seconds and goes away. When it's warm the sounds is gone.

12-15s whine on start up due to the air injection pump (emissions thing). Sounds like a vacuum cleaner

I'm thinking it's a pulley beginning to show signs of wear. Wasn't able to hear it this morning for more than a few seconds, not enough time to zero in on, but the sound whined on and off for a few seconds then went away.

Completely normal. It's the secondary air thingy.

If you can, post a recording of the sound.

If @Brauhlen bio is current, they are listed to have an 07. I wasnt sure that the 07s had the secondary air injection, I thought that system was introduced with the 12's+ but I may be incorrect. Furthermore, OP described that the sound seemed to be originating from the drivers side front where the secondary air is found on passenger rear corner. I understand that sound does crazy things inside the cab of a vehicle so I just based my hypothesis based on the info I had at hand. If I were to attempt to pinpoint the origin of this mystery sound based on pulleys, either the alternator or possibly water pump?

The secondary air pump shouldn't make a whining noise (I have a 2012 and it doesn't whine...even when the temps are in the teens and twenties).

I'm betting it's a pulley failing and causing the belt to squeal.

Unplug the alternator connector with the engine running and see if the noise goes away

I tried to catch it in sub freeing temp this morning, but it was nowhere near as cold as Wednesday in UT. Was able to get a couple seconds of the sound, yet can't seem to directly link the vid through my galaxy 6. File over 20 mb. Better method available? Almost uploaded to youtube but got sick of hunting for the file upload tab.
