    Yep, goes away in 4x4.
And, worrisomely, occurring across more speed ranges and getting louder!! Better get it replaced asap

Then you should ask to let them fix under the tsb although yours is 2019. If not replace the needle bearing with ecgs

They claimed the tsb did not apply to my vin - and that it wouldn’t anyway because of the lift. Highly suspect they wouldn’t warranty it

Worry is, if they decide it’s the bushing, and that they won’t cover it because of the lift - than i’m out around $150 for “diagnosis” on top of whatever they’d charge to rape me & replace it. Cheaper to just buy the bushing and do it

They may have improved the bearing at the fleet level e.g. 10% of lifted trucks had it before, 2% have it now. Anyway @History2008 has 44,000 miles to verify if the TSB remains effective.

FWIW I'm lifted 2.5" in the front and get no vibes from the diff bearing. CV angles are severe enough that I had to do the boot slide mod to prevent the fins from touching. It definitely isn't a problem affecting all lifted Tacos.

tell me of this boot slide mod! Mine contacts too!!
(Super annoying since i specifically asked the shop prior to install if there would be any contact at max articulation, they said no. And yet - cv hits the control arm and the shock, /and/ the upper control arm smacks into the spring!!) (‘course they also said it would be a spring lift and mfers put in blocks...)

I had this TSB done over a year ago & still all good. My diff made noise & when the removed the drivers side CV axle that was damaged as well during repairs. I got a new front differential & drivers side CV axle.

So what fresh hell is this? Didn’t know about this one. Is it something to keep an eye on? My 2019 OR is lifted but my diff makes no noise at all. The odometer currently sits at around 12k. Bought it in Feb of this year. Is something affecting the earlier ones?

If you aren't getting vibes, leave it alone.
Sounds like you have a slew of other problems aside from the front diff vibe. Anyway this is an easy mod: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/my-cv-boot-mod.190669/

Shocked they agreed to warranty the diff for a lifted truck....
I know this is 3rd gen, but I replaced my needle bearing on my 2nd Gen with the ECGS bushing and I still get the hum, most noticeably at 80mph......

I am a mechanical engineer and was dumbfounded at the "designed" clearance between the oem needle bearing and the shaft, never in my life seen that before...... would love to listen to the explanation behind it....

The noise will come back even with a new diff. unless it has the ECGS bushing installed, give it some time.

I had my front diff replaced under warranty back in 2016. Was great for about 150-200 miles and the vibes/noise came back. Put in the ECGS bushing and have no issues since.

Lol ya same here, 2018 with Eibach lift and no front diff problems, last Tacoma was a reg cab 2009 with OME lift and didn’t have this issue either. It certainly is not something that affects all of these trucks. Wonder if there are different part manufacturers making the diffs or bushings... i suggest this because the 4cyl trucks had clutches from two different manufacturers, one was problem free the other was a problem, learned this from having the problem part in the 2009... anyway just a though for the haters to shit on!

well, honestly speaking, I know a lot of people have faith in this ecgs, but it is $60 kind of expensive.

Anyway, I did the wheel alignment yesterday, and sure enough, the alignment was pretty bad after they replace the front diff. Now it runs so smoothly on highway.

I wish someone would take accurate measurements of the ECGS. My machinist buddy might be able to help me make it cheaper.
