I dont drive it much since moving up here and retiring from the USCG... I have a work car and a few others rigs to drive.. it only crosses my mind every once a while that it doesn't work... I took it deer hunting the last few mornings so it reminded me.

    Will do..

I have fallen victim to the drivers side heated seat issue as well! Good news, I have about 18 days and 300 miles left of my factory warranty.

I had the same issue, see photo below. I took it to the dealer and they couldn’t find a Toyota part number or anything. Service manager advised vehicles leave the factory and then get last minute things complete on them at the port, like heats seats. This may be the cause for no part number. Anyway, after checking it out they informed me they were holding the truck and I needed to call Toyota Customer Care to get a claim started and they would supply a rental in the meantime. I am out of warranty, so they couldn’t just pick this one up without me starting the claim process. I did what they advised and 1.5 weeks later I was told it’s being covered and I will have my truck back this weekend. Toyota won’t mess around, if involving this type of issue, even outsude of warranty. They are replacing the wires, relays, etc. on both seats!

I assume you got the extended warranty? Either that or you bought it later in the year

I am also a victim of this failure. I plan to go to Toyota to ask about a replacement but won't hold my breath.

You all move to AZ. In the summer time the seats will be VERY WELL heated...Some times in winter also.

I too just experienced this issue. Going to call and submit a claim as well.

I would suggest also filing a report with NHTSA. Seems this is not an isolated issue.

Saw this today. Has anyone had any luck with Toyota fixing these?

If you are still under the factory warranty or purchased an extended warranty then they should take care of it no problem

Mine failed, tried going through Toyota to fix it but they denied the Goodwill to cover it out of warranty...

Do I have any recourse to push back at them?

To recap. I have a 2016 Taco with 52 K and extended warranty plus. Exactly the same story for me with my seat and pulling out the defective part.

Dealer charged me 120 for diagnostic (I see the need as i have no idea of how the circuitry is affected), but repair/replacement covered. Waited 4 weeks and the part just arrived. Dealer sounded surprised that it did arrive. Going in two days for repair, and will let you know if it‘s a new part or not.

Did anyone look to see if that unit was stuffed between the seat foam and one of those seat springs..? If it shorted to the spring, then moving it may be a fix before it burns out.

Just wondering..... I'm going to look at mine tomorrow and take pics before I move it. :fingerscrossed:
