Locking tailgate

Does anyone know how to engage the locking tailgate with the oem remote. My doors lock but not the tailgate. This is a Pro truck so it should have that feature. Am I missing something? lol

What year? It's not listed in your info. I don't want to spread misinformation, and I don't believe everything I read on the instanetz, but someone here mentioned, in another thread, the 2020s were supposed to have that option. Either way, I did the pop n lock, it was best easy install, and has been reliable so far.

 

2020 Pros don't have it standard. You can get it as a dealer installed upgrade and it pretty much is a pop'n'lock. I just installed Katie's lock and opener this weekend and it seems to work great so far. Took about 2 hours to install and that was crawling around without the truck lifted up. I'm waiting on my DSIM to arrive tomorrow before I can test the opener but I don't see any reason it shouldn't work. Good stuff.

 

Third gen tacomas do not come with any self locking tailgate unless the dealer installed and you paid for it. The dealer uses the popnlock but replaces the PL# with their own toyota part number but its 100% the same.

I would be glad to help you out. I’ve been out of town for a little over a week but I get back tonight at midnight. I truly think you will get the best bang for your buck with the kit I offer and I’m not just saying that because I sell it. Take a look for yourself and make your own judgement. Thanks everyone for the kind words. Biggest difference. My kit is 100% PLUG-N-PLAY! With a brand new truck, ask yourself if you want to splice into your wires or if you would rather have to tap your OEM wires. That’s the difference. Other than that, both kits are reliable. Also, I have been told actuators may be a little different with noise. One may be a little quieter than the other but I have never had a pop-n-lock to verify that it is a little louder than mine or not. That’s just what I have been told by a few of my customers that have switched from that kit to my kit and I have taken their word for it given their hands on experience. Food for thought. Again, please make your own judgement. To each their own. I offer this kit to help members out.
