Audio Question (Beat 'em down).

I know there are hundreds of threads with a million answers, but none address my wants.
So with that . . . Putting together my Christmas list for Santa. For my 2008 Access Cab.
I want to fight back when someone is next to me whether at the gas station, red light, Walmart parking lot, and inflicting their music choice on me. This is for when you get that annoying person playing todays Rap music, Cant stand it. I like Rap if its the original old school variety.
So I want to fight back and blast them with good old rock music, Led Zep, Floyd, Van Halen, Whitesnake, Bad Co, you get the picture.
I'm keeping my factory 6cd changer/radio but beyond that what should I put in. I do like a good dose of Bass.
Money is the big key here, I have very little of it. I know I have to spend to get what I want and am willing to do so but I don't have thousands to spend on this.
If I cant compete, which I know will be tough on my $. I want to turn my audio up so I cant hear theirs.
Lets see what you come up with.

It all depends on your budget. I put about $800 in mine and it was the right decision.

Kicker Key Amp, Kicker components for front door and dash, Kicker coaxial for rear doors, and sound ordnance 8" powered sub for added bass. I added sound saddened for doors too.

 

do you have the half rear doors? Or no rear doors?

If it was me, I’d do a high-sensitivity 2ohm component set up front, ignore the rears, get a decent 4-channel amp, and bridge the rear channels to power a sub.

So, on Access cab is there really a benefit for not putting rear speakers in and pay more attention to an amp, sub and front door set up?

 

Those guys at the gas station might be running flea market grade stuff but they aren’t running no punk ass little 4 channel and some kickers. The guys you are talking about are FILLlING their trunks with 12s and 15s

If you want to be “that guy” and impetuously blast classic rock back at them you will need many speakers and I’m guessing like 2K watts worth of pure speaker fart.

Bottom line: Go find out what they are running and make a friend instead of just acting out. Maybe they can help you meet your objectives while staying within your budget.

Pro tip: You’ll lose the Access part of your cab doing it. About a year later you’ll pull all that shit out because you’ve matured and want to put some luggage back there or something.

Save yourself now, install a modest sound system that you will enjoy listening to and forget about trolling random people at the gas station.

 

I have already reached the age of maturity and gone beyond, now I just want to shut their stupid asses up.
That said I do agree with your thought of making a friend out of them. That way I can get a good set up i'll be happy with 90% of the time and that's what it's all about.

My new 18 inch woofer is going in so I will have even less room for activities here soon. Skar Audio>every other brand.

 

I just have a 6.5" component set of JL audio speakers in the front doors ran off an aftermarket head unit. 10" JL sub at 300W. Won't be near as loud as any of theirs but sounds great.

 

I don't have anymore at the moment. Rough dimensions are 12" D at the top, 17" D at bottom 11.25" W and 12" tall. The bottom support that rests on the hump of the floor isn't part of the internal volume of the box. Used 3/4 MDF and doubled the baffle so the front is 1.5 in. Ended up with about .7 cubic feet after sub displacement and the sub needed .65. If it was any bigger I would have made it butt up against the back of the center console and downfire it. That seems to be the most common solution for access cabs

One thing to consider if you do go this route is the seat belt buckles. I never have anyone sit back there so I wasn't too worried about it, but I removed the console and seat belt buckles to fit it. I'd imagine you could elevate it a few inches to maintain full functionality, though
