I've done a good bit of searching on this site and the overwhelming majority of people upgrading their suspension have 6cyl trucks and want lift. I've seen some other posts without responses wondering about how products like OME coils/5100s/etc will look and how much lift they would provide a lighter 4 cylinder 4x4 front end? Surely there's some 4cyl owners who have upgraded the stock Tacoma suspension. I'd love to hear from some folks who've upgraded their 4cyl suspension, especially without a major lift! What did you use? How did it ride? In what conditions?

Cuz people with 4 cylinder trucks still have crappy stock leaf springs and want an improved ride?

I should have specified that I'm curious about second gen or 3rd gen 6-lug 4x4 4-bangers. Those threads looks to be specific toward 1st gen 2wd rigs.

We do them all the time, heres a 4 cyclinder we literally just finished. The back is only a little low since we put the stock wheels, tires, and old suspension in the rear.

Looks good! What did you put in the front? Have you ever put a 3rd gen trd suspension on a 2nd gen 4cyl 4x4?

Thought I'd share my setup for anyone interested in upgrading their suspension on a 4x4 4 banger given how long it took me to dial my setup in (outlined below). For context, I have a Leer cap, thule box, custom bed drawers, HD trailer hitch and generally carry between 100-200 lbs of gear on a daily basis:

Shocks: Bilstein 5100's all around; front set at 0.75
    Front Coils: Stock
Rear Leafs: Custom leaf pack made by local spring company that is equivalent to TSB leaf package with an add-a-leaf.

Overall there is barely any rake and the truck sits lifted about 1-1.5" from stock position.

After about 150K on this setup, my leaf packs are mushy so looking to upgrade to Deavers, but will keep all other suspension components the same.

Read your quote. It states right in there why the rear is sagging.
