Look out he is breaking sh*t!
So... i am heavy in the front end, Shrockworks and Warn 8000.
After the first 15-20 miles the front settled a good inch.
Seems like you guys might want to give the front about 50+ miles to settle before you spend money getting alignment.

I started adjusting the preload collar to diminish the driver side 'toy lean'... did a passenger side adjust... minus 1/4"... not quite enough... went 1/2"... so close.
Third try at it i snapped the collar tool tip off, damn!
...was using a 15" cheater bar/tube for leverage... bad idea?

I was shooting for about 22" hub to fender, just under it now, seems like it has settled another 1/4" here this week, only about 50-60 miles on it.

    Still.
First time in the last 10 years this thing has even sat close to level.

Hints as to adjusting the collar?

And Marie, i have pulled most of the OEM type stuff out of the rear mud flap area, maybe that's why i had an extra hole in the frame to mount to.

what springs did you order? Did you have the front drooped out for adjustment?

Is there a serial number on the shocks?
Maybe you can contact Elka to see if they know what the base settings were.

    Cheers

    I think its a 700lbs coil.
It had about 7/8" thread showing, to start. And is that way on the driver side... 7/8". The passenger side is at 1/4" thread showing... almost level R/L... really close, like 1/8" difference.

Do you have that much weight offset between the sides? 3/4” difference is a lot, would equal 1.5” in actual height. It almost sounds like you may have something else going on, but I’ve been wrong before..... once lol.

Right i was under the impression 1/4" adjust = 1/2" lift. In the front. I am past that.

Maybe i will try a rear coil spacer on driver side, didn't want to lift the rear any more...I have a spare tire hanging out the back driver side, just to amplify the whole lean thing.

Anyone count the clicks of high and low speed adjustment available? Book says 18 clicks of LSC, and I only seem to have 10...

I would just like to point out, and I'm sure you are aware, really its just best to remove to the coilover from the truck all together to make adjustments. If the collar is difficult to rotate and leverage needs to be added to help rotate it, there a very good chance you will elongate the collar holes.

Also for those trying to make adjustments, please be sure to follow the Adjustment Procedure outlined in the Owner's Manual which was provided in the box. Pay special attention to the paragraph which reads:
Do Not Attempt to adjust the preload if the wheels are not off the ground. Any pressure on the spring will prevent you from being able to turn the adjuster (collar) and may cause damage.

On a side note.... even with the wheels off the ground the adjustment can still be very difficult and with a split collar design, we at HeadStrong just recommend removing the coilover all together and compressing the coils before making adjustments. I know its a pain to do and takes a lot more time, but we have just seen way too many issues when trying to adjust them while on the truck. In fact we just had a customer who went to make an adjustment with his new coilovers (another brand) on the truck and his collar jumped up on one side and now the threads are damaged.

I just checked my sample set here and I counted as specified in the owners manual, 18 with red knob and 16 with the bigger black knob.

Take it off... don't want to hear that.

Yup i follow directions fairly well, page 7, wheel off the ground to adj.
I did it 2x then the third time was not the charm.

Its the adj. collar, how much to loosen the hex head that locks the top collar... to little it wont move, to much it gets loose and jumps threads?... fine line i guess.
Mine did make a 'pop' sound the third go at it, hope i didn't foul it up, i did get it to go about a 1/4 turn back/tighter, to get at the bolt to lock the collar.
I would like to add one turn to the passenger side but may just quit fooling with it and live with a higher drivers side. It is supper close and I did damage a hole on the collar too.

    live and learn

Did you spray the top of the collar with spray lube, not sure if this is in the instructions, but with my successful on vehicle adjustments I've always sprayed first to make the collar rotate easier.

Didn't spray the collar, no. I ended up superduper close to where i wanted, 22" front fender to center hub. 5/16" threads on passenger, 7/8" threads on driver.
Thinking back to dirt bikes the adjust collar was 2 collars that lock together, i just noticed the newer remote resi Billies that are like that, 2 collars on the lower shock assembly...
Did a ZPC, just need to adjust the headlights.

...and i am only getting 10 clicks on both adjust knobs...Hmmmmm?

I will reach out to Elka and see, they may have done a design change to limit the clicks so that with each click the difference is more significant. If this is the case they may have forgotten to update the manual.

Yeah pretty much everyone uses the single collar anymore. With the Tacoma and 4runner coilovers it may just be the dimensional stack up and use of 14" coils that make it best for a single collar such that there is still room for adjustment in both directions whereas with the double collar you would have even less threads of top. So this coupled with the cost associated with having one additional collar would also be a reason.

Out with the old and in with the new! Today was the day to finally get it all installed. The build quality and attention to detail with these Elka’s is amazing. Everything fit perfectly and the installation was a breeze! As said above, the 40 miles drove home on em made the front settle a pretty good amount. Looks like I’ll be doing some adjusting here soon. That’s a given though. The ride quality is superb so far and I am sure is only gonna get better as they fully settle in. Thank you so much for running this GB! So glad I jumped on em. Definitely a decision I do not regret. Probably got about an inch or so that I need to raise the front to level it all back out. Stoked!

Okay so here's the deal on the clickers....the manual was designed based on the Gen.1 pre-production reservoir that had 18 clicks.
Elka then moved to a big bore cartridge design for actual production and this reservoir has 12 LSC and 10 HSC.
Elka we will be updating the manual to reflect this.

    Love those lower arms!

Really glad to hear, yeah I have just been very pleased with my Elka's. I actually just did another off-road trip over the weekend and they preformed great. So far I have done rock crawling, mixed terrain with washboard, and now high speed trails (sandy wash). So basically my shocks have seen it all at this point. I appreciate you offering your feedback, I know a lot of people don't know the brand and are typically just stuck looking at what's most popular (FOX, KING...). Having run pretty much all other top brands, the things that I have been super happy with is the valving, IMO I think they did a great job considered on road ride while having them set for off-road performance. Going fast with them and really smoothing out the ride was pretty cool. A couple of instances where I didn't have enough time to slow down and I just basically braced for impact and instead just smiled after floating through the bumps.
