for some reason my blinkers work on newly wired trailer, but running lights will not come on. is this a common problem that the harnesses stop working? Driving me crazy

None here with 2 newly wired trailers. You sure you have it wired right?

I've checked it out for two days now. Wiring is done right, problem is with whatever truck is putting out or mainly not putting out. The four flat side is not putting out the signal for brown wire parking lights. I bought a plug in unit for the round receptacle, that has a four way flat plug in, but that acted the same as the factory flat plug in. Need to replace hardwired plug in unit attached to truck. Any videos of anyone doing this?

Try it on another truck first.

Blinkers and brakes work but no running lights - not grounded properly. Other possibility is blown fuse. Can’t remember which one it is but simple fix.

Try it on another truck first. I rewired my boat trailer to a 7 pin, no issues.

If not grounded properly no truck will make the trailer lights work. Take white wire and drill hole for a screw of use self tapping screw for the ground wire. 99% of the time this is the problem.

If this problem only exists on your Tacoma, it’s a blown fuse. Green 20amp mini fuse. Been through both these scenarios. It’s one or other unless there’s an inline fuse somewhere on your new trailer wiring kit. Doubtful though

I think i found the issue, I did finally find the trailer has a fuse for running lights but not for blinkers. I believe I have a brown parking wire that is grounded on the frame some where, so when I plug the trailer in it blows the fuse, and prevents parking lights from working. Got a new wiring harness going to try it all over again. Thanks for your help. On my truck it's a 30 amp. I only have one truck, Big Daddy.

not the trailer but the harness that feeds the trailer.

It HAS to be "on the ball". Hook it up like you are going to tow it. A lot of hair been torn out because of this.

Some have inline fuses, yes. If you’re throwing breakers each time you have a short, not a ground problem. One of the wires, not the ground wire, has made contact with the metal frame of the trailer and is shorting our the fuse on your truck. 98% chance it’s wire running through cutouts in the trailer frame and the wires weren’t properly secured or didn’t have rubber grommets ran to protect the wires when trailer was in transit. Also speaking from experience of exact same problems over time.

It's not the grounding problem, turns out it was a wire shorting out killing the fuse. If it were a grounding issue the blinkers would not work. Noodle I agree and this is what is happening

the towing circuit shares the parking circuit of the Tacoma. The turns (blinkers) are combined with the stop on the towing circuit.

:) Spoke at same time! Easy fix too, when you find the short anyway.
