My regret is being financially irresponsible with my mods (thanks TW) I'm impatient and need ALL OF THE MODS NOWWWWW

But seriously I regret toyota not stuffing the 4.7 v8 in this truck. My dad had an 04 tundra with that motor and it hauled ass. Every once and a while this truck makes me miss my 00 dakota R/T with the 5.9 v8, but then i remember it was a dodge...

I think I regret not getting a Taco sooner.

I went from a 1998 Civic EX Coupe which I lowered to a 2006 VW Passat 2.0 turbo because it was more "mature", to a 2014 Honda Civic EX Sedan because the VW was costing me an arm and leg to keep it out of the shop (the Honda just ran forever), and now to a Taco because I rode my BMW F650GS to Overland Expo East in Asheville and fell in love with the thought of having one vehicle that I could take anywhere, in any weather, and have my pup with me. I love the outdoors, and while the previous vehicles got me places, only the BMW got me to the places that are really off the beaten path.

With that said, I wish I could have found a truck a bit less expensive. But the tradeoffs were trucks that were not the color I wanted, not the package I wanted, or high mileage. For that reason I ended up paying a pretty penny for the truck I have, but it's a TRD Off-Road and the magnetic gray metallic that I like.

It's black. And has the worst factory stereo I've ever heard.

This is where I think I'm done with this truck. Everything needs to be modified and improved. Toyota makes customization a pain in the ass. Example: I loath the locking and unlocking settings for they key fob. Most cars you take to a dealer, hook up to a computer and reprogram. Not a Toyota, have to spend like $500 on a whole new alarm system.

Stock audio blows, needs $1500 there
Needs $1,000 for heated leather seats
Needs $2,500 for a decent suspension

    F
    This
    Shit

Was a cool idea while it lasted. Would be a great truck all tricked out. Just can't afford a $50k Tacomaand a full size. So come 2018 two trucks become an:

Buying a Tacoma by accident sight unseen(long story). Then coming to find out I ended up with a Pre-Runner 2wd. I always wanted a Taco so I kept what was delivered off the shipping truck.

Paying for add-ons (sliders with steps, tri-fold tonneau cover that leaked like a sieve) that didn't quite live up to my expectations.

Buying used. I couldn't afford new, so it is what it is. Having to deep clean every damn square inch, prior owner was a slob. The inside is about where I want it. Come spring, I'll have to do some PDR and a few major swirl removal / touchup sessions. Lets not even talk about undercarriage rust removal... Although I'm told I got a good deal on ito_O

I coveted the Tacoma since the first gen. So badass. So I kinda regret not just getting a first gen. While I don't regret getting my 2010 TRDORDC, I think I will regret it if I don't cash in on this resale value sooner rather than later. Chronic driveline and vibration issues in all of these trucks, low mpg, suddenly becoming a not so bulletproof vehicle, but it was fun while it lasted.

My biggest regret is not discovering sooner how great Tacomas are.

Low mpg and some vibs equate it not being bulletproof. Ha, okay.

Not getting one in 2011 when I was first looking for a truck. I ended up getting a new F150.

The Ford was all right but I bit the bullet and got an 05 Taco in 2014. The 05 was totaled in 2018 and I got more than I paid for it.

It was an awesome truck and a huge workhorse for Uber driving in nasty Montana winters. I picked up my 2010 in August and hope to enjoy it for years to come.

Tacomas have their problems, definitely not perfect, but my experience is that they are very tough and reliable machines.

Nothing really. Bought my 2015 2 years ago, put 40k miles on it already zero issues. Lifted 3” running 285( slight vibe on take off don’t care like all the cry babies, my truck has a vibration) 18-20mpg great( no bitching oh my poor gas mileage, drive the damn thing) can sell it for more than I paid for it(cash is king) but I’ll drive it till it dies. 5 Toyota put no less than 300k miles on the 4 previous ones.

My expectations might be a little high, but this downplays the seriousness of the vibrations' origins and how widespread the issue is with at least an entire generation of trucks.
