I dont think Ive ever seen a Dakota that didnt have rotted out body panels, even in NC they seem to go quick. And Im not talking about the newest Dakotas with the ugly front ends that no one likes, Im talking about the ones that looked like mini Rams from the early 2000's.

Also didnt those trucks have a little issue where the rear end could lock up at highway speeds or something?

    Laughs in north east.

Given enough time and salt exposure, anything will rot out. Toyota is just the only brand to make the issue well known.

Its the price of doing business, they're emissions exempt in most places so you could take it all off if you wanted

you should see the chevy colorados and gmc canyons.

they rot just as bad as tacos.. and in the same spots
and they happen to use the same supplier for the frames

    No idea about that issue.

my dads own 2 with no rust issue or major mechanical issue.

only reason he sold the 1st one was because a ext cab was to small sp he got a DC.

Toyota just flipped their own script from the 3rd gen pickup and before to the Tacoma. They went from body rot to frame rot.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.detroitnews.com/amp/20629323. Looks like theyve done a similar recall more than a few times for more than a few trucks/model years. Just google ram/dakota axle lock up.

No those pickups had frame rot too, just took a bit longer haha. But they did take care of the body rust.

My dad lost his 86 to severe body rot, was a PA truck though most of its life. The 92 has some surface rust on the frame and some paint bubbling on the pinch welds but nothing serious.

my buddies Dakota did it. luckily doing 20 mph. but ive also seen a chevy rear end seize too.

speaking of chevy their HD trucks have a bad habit of cracking the frames too.. we have one we use for plowing since they couldnt sell it used. its a 2013 model

It among other typical dodge things prevented me from buying a Dakota. I always wanted the V8 5 speed 4wd combo in the early 2000's Dakotas. Really rare too.
