It is 1 piece. Getting it into position was fun lol. I had a drywall delivery truck boom it through a window and then used an engine hoist to set it in place.

As far as the type of stone.. “jet black” ... I think it’s granite.

Thanks! I’ve been looking forward to it for sooo long

We changed insurance companies. Had to have an inspection. A new person only doing it for 2 weeks came up.
Later we get a letter/report that we need to fix the stonework under the stove. It is not correct.
    I was worried then pissed.
I call, explain about the newbee, everything else she had wrong, and the stove. I emailed the company the stove manual.
No problem. I was correct in my installation.
I told the inspector all of that. The numbers she reported had no basis anywhere. Just seemed random.

Around here I think cut/split/delivered for 'seasoned' (which usually means cut log-length in the spring and sitting out in the open until you place your order) is around $300/cord. Accounting for proximity to a city, $400 doesn't seem that excessive. :notsure:

I paid $275 a cord here . Very inconsistent sizing . I physically showed the guy the size wood I wanted and he said no problem. 3 cords and maybe 1 cord will fit in my stove . Way to big . Sold my stove and bought a fireplace insert .1EF32012-07D5-4294-84BC-9287A2F3C8C3.jpg1D22670D-8573-4913-A48F-51AC2CD8BDF8.jpg1D22670D-8573-4913-A48F-51AC2CD8BDF8.jpg 1EF32012-07D5-4294-84BC-9287A2F3C8C3.jpg

    Wow.

    I balk above 160/cord.

I can buy waste wood (all cut split and kiln dried) for $50/ton from a local mill.

Edit: I have a 2' square door on my burner.. I love it big this time of year, don't need the BTUs and it burns forever.

Man and I was fussing about wood prices around here this year. Just bought a cord a couple weeks ago and it was about $250 delivered and stacked. Have 2 more coming this week for $140ea

It's why I buy mine tree-length. Usually runs around $80-100/cord that way, and a load generally works out to 2 years of heating.

Or, if I'm ambitious, I can sell what I don't use myself, and heat my house for free. Haven't done it that way for a few years now, though. Just haven't had the time.

When I bought wood last January when we moved in it was the same thing, 90% of the pieces needed to be resplit. Wasn't exactly what I would consider seasoned either, but it burned ok.
I get timber off-cuts from work for free fiddy, still gotta split it though for the most part. As long as I pay attention to what I'm grabbing it's KD. I think I've got about enough for this winter and a good bit of oak drying for next year, my GF told me to stop bringing wood home but I really don't want to pay for shit wood in the middle of winter.
