I've got a 2010 TRD Sport with 21000 miles that I picked up last year. Generally pretty happy with the truck but just wondering how Toyota came up with a modern truck with this much road noise. Driven plenty of truck and my old 2003 Silverado was much quieter even with an aftermarket exhaust.

I know some of it is wind but could the stock Bridgestone Dueler HT's be part of the problem. Never had them before. I'd like to quiet the thing down but outside of the tires which are in great shape, no cupping or weird wear, is there anything that really works on these trucks?

Can't speak for Dueler HT's on a Tacoma, but I've had 2 sets on a 2014 2WD 4Runner and they are quiet - ride smooth.

Think they've gone bad.?...heck they still have the little nubbys on them. Funny think is Walmart wouldn't rotate them because of the date code. I'll probably will look for something in the spring...let these cover this winter.

The rubber compound changes. If it were my truck I'd be replacing them before winter if they are nearing 10 years old. You'll have much better wet, snow, and cold weather traction.

I've noticed a lot more road noise in my Tacoma than any other vehicle.

Poor sound dampening in these trucks. If you disagree you’re in denial.

First off replace those almost 10yr old tires. Then start chasing the noise. My new 2012 Tacoma came with Bridgestone Duelers and I replaced them at 25,000mi due to poor handling/ride/noise issues. Was very disappointed with those OEM tires.

Yes, Tacomas are noisy. Your old tires probably contribute to the noise.

If your tires are showing signs of Dry Rot the inner structure of the tire ( belts , cords) have been compromised making the tire unsafe

Tacoma's are louder inside than most vehicles. Tires can make a huge difference and most tires get louder as they wear.

There is a date stamp on tires. Their life span can vary depending on where you live and park the truck. It is sunlight that breaks down the rubber. If you live in a northern climate they will last longer. If you live in a state like Arizona, Texas, or Florida where there are lots of sunny days they break down sooner. The tires will last longer on a vehicle stored in a garage out of direct sunlight. Generally 5-7 years is as long as you want to keep them regardless. Maybe a bit longer in North Dakota, possibly less in Florida.

The tires where always garaged but I'm going to looks for some new ones soon. These really are poor in the rain and my one spinning wheel. Might even try to pickup a locking rear so I can get around better with it. When I bought it was a hurry hurry deal and I didnt realize there was no locker....really strange imo.

I've considered doing some sound deadening and will if I ever decide to do a stereo. I did a older silverado when I had to replace the interior and it was a different vehicle. Much quieter and everything just felt more solid.

Doesn't matter if they were always garaged, the rubber will still break down. If tires are spinning in the rain, then it is time for new tires. I had to pull mine off around 40K due to this. Truck became handful in the rain.
