I don’t recall any driveline vibes with my old 05 or current 10 so far.

I bought my truck new from the dealer in 2015 without test driving it or even looking at it. The deal was made and I saw/drove it 2 days later after they prepped it for “delivery”. I can find more than a few things to pick on if I wanted to but that’s not the point. I plan on passing this truck down to my kids. My daughter is 5 my son is 6 months old. My taco is a pleasure vehicle with only 30,000km on it after 4 years of owning it. By the time my daughter is old enough to drive it, the taco will still be “breaking in” :) you can’t say that about other manufacturers.
My wife’s daily driver is a 2015 Lexus GX 460 and we had a 2003 4Runner V8 limited before that... my brothers drive a 4Runner, an FJ and a Land Cruiser. We are a proper Toyota family.
    Regrets? Zero.

Well then that's my regret. I specifically passed on a 2012 for a 2010 that had a few more miles and less updated stereo. I figured, it's a Toyota, what's another 20k+ miles? Two recalls, a zh2 extended warranty, dealership runaround and impending driveline and diff issues later, I now wish I'd taken the 2012 with higher monthly payments. I guess 2012 is post-zh2.

Other consumer reviews I see, vibrations are part of the game with gen 3 Tacomas too. To me it's not the vibration so much as the origin of the vibrations. TW folks don't seem to mind, y'all are downright impressive and generous with your diy threads and overall enthusiasm for mods and fixes, but that's not in my background or wheelhouse, it's not work that I enjoy. Last time I worked on a car was changing spark plugs in a Lexus IS maybe 7 years ago, which involved removing the throttle body and some other bits . . . I did it, no extra pieces left over, but that was enough for me.

I really wanted a stick when I bought mine used but then after reading countless problems with the manuals im ok with the auto. Maybe and thats a big Mabey if I upgrade to a newer 4th gen Tacoma when they come out I’ll get the stick.but for now this truck is like brand new . New frame new leaf springs and all the goods that they replaced on the frame recall. I really can’t complain about my 2010 i get an average of 18-20 mpg on duratracs and besides a bad o2 sensor and a belt thats the only issues so far

having to upgrade some things like rear springs & bed stiffeners was annoying

gas mileage as so many others have said, although i put up with it because the engine is reliable and a gem to work on

I regret not when changing out the ugly steel wheels when I bought vehicle new off the lot. Still haven't changed them in 9 years. Lol. And regret I bought it from a dealership I have no confidence in due to past Service Department shenanigans. If I buy another Toyota Tacoma/Tundra in future I'll choose another dealer.

I bought a 07 Prerunner ACLB with a V6 and Manual trans. I love this truck. The only regrets I have is that I didn't get it in 4WD. I would also like a DCSB in the future. I thought the ACLB was what I needed, but it turns out I could have used the DCSB more. But I don't regret getting the ACLB.

My 2011 does. But I’m at 163k miles.

    What exactly is the cause?

I believe it's u joints. But it's a kinda long story. I'll throw it back here:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a prolonged u joint failure (say, over 18 months) could lead to rear diff failures also, no? Like worn out bearings, pinions, gears?

I did some short reading. Seems it was Toyota’s idea to put 3 u joints instead of 4, causing uneven motion. I also read it doesn’t affect longevity.

    Thoughts?

Mine looked pretty beat up. But that doesn't answer my question. Would that prolonged "uneven motion" contribute to rear diff failures?

I think if that was the case then this would be a much larger issue in discussion and be a broader concern for alarm.

Most threads and posts I’ve come across have said they get used to it or take the time to correct it. I don’t think it causes much failure at all.

I’ve read some Tacoma’s have it around 10k miles and on. 2nd gen and 3rd gen if I’m not mistaken.

Is this something they (my tire/break/alignment shop) do when doing an alignment?

Probably finding these forums. I would have a nice stock truck that was plenty good enough and a bunch of money.

I live in the city, so I went with a short bed. I'm fine with it but I often wish I had a long bed. I also wish I would have protected the paint with a wrap right off the lot.
