My issue with my 3rd Gen is that the projectors jiggle every time i hit a bump!! I love the CCFL version, they are so bright!! even during the day time. But im about ready to take them off and sell them because i cant stand them jiggling at night. In my opinion they are made cheaply with no regard for quality.

Sorry about the jiggling, i'd be pissed too.

Not to hi-jack the thread, but you guys seem to have the knowledge im looking for!

I created a battery box, that will fit 2 dual optima batteries in the stock location, however, the stock headlights recess to far into that area...so I was trying to find maybe an after market headlight that was slimmer? I was told about these, but couldn't find a pictures taken of them from inside the engine bay with the hood up. I thinking about either gen 2 or gen 3, im not a fan of gen 1.

Im hoping to see the inside of someones hood on the drivers side where their battery is to see how far these head lights come in. Can anyone take a pic of theres who has the gen 2 and the gen 3? Thanks in advance, sorry for the thread hi-jack!

IIRC there wasn't much difference from one housing shape to the other where you are talking about but I can snap a pic of it with gen 2's...gimme a few to get camera and make sure it charged and whatnot. I will PM you the pic.

    that's be awesome,thanks a ton!

And did you mean, there wasnt much of a difference between gen 2 and gen 3, or between these aftermarket housings, and the stock housing?...

bummer...maybe the 3rd gen is slimmer? (hopeful)

if they aren't, im going to have to cut the front leg off the fuse box, and cut off the battery latch metal sticking straight up in front of the fuse box...i was hoping to avoid that and possible just be able to get a set of head lights and drop the box in...maybe the picture will tell me different *fingers crossed*

yeah, i agree. I just want a head light assembly that isn't so freakin huge. I litterally only need an inch to make everything work. Im hoping that this picture will prove that its slightly smaller, and will work! I think I will go with gen 3, or maybe gen two if its smaller than gen 3. we will see!

Just so I can make sure I read correctly... of the three gens, 1, 2, and 3...

Only gen 2 lights have the CCFL? And that makes it a lot brighter than the rest? The gen 3 has LEDs for the rings, as does gen 1, but Gen 2 uses the CCFL for the rings, making it far brighter?

Can someone confirm this, because if thats right, then I at least know I only need to find a picture of the Gen 2s...lol thanks everyone!

i like these to my own surprise. but i don't believe in messing with the factory lights in any way. with the exception of painting the or some shit. if you want brighter lights get some hellas and mount them up for when it gets really dark.

I have Gen 3 and they are ccfl.Much brighter! i bought the gen 2 and you couldnt even see the halo during day time. The gen 3 you can see the halos really well!
None of them are slimmer than the other. They seem to be the same size as stock in width.

OK, failtown on the pics. Took them, then battery died when trying to feed them into computer, put battery on charger, got "distracted" by the wife & then fell out...early to bed, early to rise shit, lol. Sorry. The adjustment knob for the dim is the only part in the outside top corner on the housing that sticks beyond the metal by about 1 1/2 inches or so. The rest of the housing is slimmer. Seems to be about half the normal battery thickness between the light and front of the mounted battery

There seems to be some confusion about brightness of the different lights here. Gen 1 are not pnp & not ccfl on the halos and are the dim ones. Gen 2 is pnp & is ccfl and the halos and brow are bright and can be seen during the day. I know, I have them. Gen 3 are also ccfl and halos should be same brightness as Gen 2. As far as the actual headlights go, not sure what comes in gen 1, my gen 2 came with silverstar h7s for dims and some bright ass 9005s or 9007s for brights. Not sure what comes in the gen 3s but IIRC, the gen 3s can be had with HIDs. Don't remember if that was option during purchase for gen 1 or gen 2.

oooh ok, thanks a lot for the info! and its cool about the pics, lol i understand.

So just to be sure I'm understanding, the depth of the headlight, is smaller than that of the stock,? You said the space was about half...half more? or half less? haha sorry for the confusing question! I'll take a picture of my own truck with the stock headlights, with the cardboard cut out of the battery box area, so maybe that will help determine whether or not this is possible. thanks for all the help thus far!!!

if you could, that'd be great, so you are saying, that the stock box, is deeper by a couple of inches? Thats exactly what I needed to hear :) I need more space between the battery, and the headlight. The stock head lights seem to huge to me, but when you look, they are quite deep. I need one thats slimmer/shallower. I litterally only need like an inch more space to get my battery box to fit in there. Thanks for the help!

They are the 3rd gen correct? Do you remember where you bought them from, and have you had any problems with them thus far? and finally, how long have you had them? Sorry for all the questions! Thanks again! rep to you!

Thanks so much! I'm totaly sold on them now. I've never heard of CARiD, but I'm going to check it out, and research it. Still, 165 buy it now free shipping is fantastic. I figure, im spending that so I dont have to cut into my stock fuse box, plus getting some awesome head lights, so its worth it to me. Thanks so much, for everything!

Hmm...well, I did a little research about CARiD.com. They are acutally Onyx Enterprises Int'l, Corp. The Better Business Bureau gave them a D+...but it looks like they resolved almost all the complaints, so its not that terrible. Plus, if they give me a good deal...and the product works...i'm fine with them...lol They say they have an easy return policy, and price match guarentee...so...i guess it should work ^_^
