Guess i'll sleep over it for now then.
The SSO slimline is something that's been on my "want" list (i've checked the other low profile bumpers and do like the fact i can add on the stage 2 wings whenever i want)

but through my current daily use i don't "need" a new front bumper and winch (and all the other stuff that goes with it - suspension upgrades etc).
I did "need" the rock sliders as i wanted some door dinger protection and at least something for trailing with you guys.

What i do "need" is a roof rack (might just get the OEM ones as they look decent and the canoe shouldn't pose an issue) and some skids to go under the truck - at least the tcase one, but a full set (front, mid, t-case) from rci is about 900 bald eagle bucks.

But for 800 Beaver tails, it's hard to resist from getting the front bumper. And the finish aint an issue, i was gonna clear coat the bare metal and call it a day i like the rough look and i don't think i've heard someone clear coat a naked SSO

I have the Warn one on my Sport, and without the winch you can definitely "tell it's there" , it actually improved the ride with the extra weight, more like an OR ride on the street, but I don't think it would be too happy with a winch too on the stock suspension.

So at least look for upgraded front springs in the future when you bolt that puppy on, with a winch.
Without the winch you should be good.

Jump on the Kijiji deals when they come, every now and then you see Tacoma skids on there too.

    "the ticket" ...

So many things flashed through my mind... So many memories of my youth... Lol.

So, in this case... what was the write up for? Obstructed plates?

Or are you referring to "the other incident that shall not be mentioned" ...

It's interesting ...it's actually illegal to have ANY frame around a lic place in any way, shape or form. So every dealer plate frame you see on the road, is illegal and susceptible to a ticket by a hawk cop on a mission. Think about that...EVERY dealership that bolts that plate on with their frame marketing is sending the consumer and their vehicle on their way, in violation of the law.

    Remarkable

It's a matter of how the law is enforced. Nowadays the cop simply sits by the road with an automated scanner, scanning for stolen vehicles, expired plates, outstanding arrest warrants, etc. The cop pulls over any vehicle the scanner can't read. Dealer frames that don't obstruct numbers won't get an beep from the scanner.

My father was pulled over for having polarized plate covers and got issued 8 tickets. 4 charges against separate subparagraphs of the HTA, x2 for front and rear plates. Hired a paralegal, got 7 tickets squashed, and ended up eating 1 minor conviction.

Lol your dad must slept with that cops wife! Geez...

The MTO computers even keep track of your car insurance status. My broker typed in one number wrong on my vin and I couldn't get a sticker until they corrected it on their computer, pink insurance slip did not matter.
Makes me wonder why we have to carry Lic, Ownership and Insurance... except that you get another ticket if you forget one...
