Probably not necessary. You can fit a 2JZ in a 1st gen Taco. could probably get an I6 into the 3rd gen which is bigger still.

TacoBella, confused as always. Plenty of 4 cylinder owners past and present on TW. Plenty of us waiting expectantly in the OV TT thread.
It's the Ford part we don't want, duh.

Looking at the general trends with new engines there is probably almost no chance that this engine will come with a manual option. I will stay with my manual AC Sport...

I believe it, because mine can too!
    With 265/75/16s!

It is just a chirp though. They won't spin unless 2Lo button is pushed.

2019 Ford Ranger recalled over HVAC fire risk
The midsize pickup truck's HVAC system could overheat and potentially cause a fire.

    https://www.cnet.com/google-amp/news/ford-ranger-recall-hvac-fire/

Ford said on Monday that it will recall 17,965 Ranger pickup trucks for a possible fire risk related to the HVAC system

*Canadian models excluded because even with the truck on fire, it's cold af up there.

Damn. Let me guess: The engineer from Trager got a new job with Ford

    A few.
I was thinking Toyota might use the current 2.7 engine, since it has been around for a long time and proven itself reliable. Problem is, the current naturally aspirated version has an output of 159hp and a turbo version of the same engine would have to about double that output, if that's possible, to be a worthwhile replacement as the primary powertrain in the next Tacoma.

Trust me, Toyota is going to do the V-6 Tundra turbo right. It’s not their first turbo rodeo. It will be conservatively rated, reliable, can idle for days on end without overheating, etc.

About how many hersprs or terqs do you think this truck needs? What absurd number do you require to keep your status amongst your “crew”? Asking for the Toyota pickup enthusiasts who have been enthusiasts since the beginning who don’t get the obsession with drag strip times or time attack rankings.

So your thinking a 4cyl might be the future engine for the next TRD PRO and all TRD models. Toyota Inc. is not a stupidly managed corporation.

The owner of OVtune said that the 2023 Tacoma would have a 300hp turbo 4-cyl six months ago (according to a credible source)

not for a Twin Turbo or Turbo set up. Ill take the N/A 3.5L all day for longevity. Any real world examples from Fords Eco-Boost pushing 500k miles on a stock engine?
