Was about to pull the trigger on the 2.5 extended travel until I read this thread. Not about to spend upwards of $2k for these coilovers and some UCAs for 1" of lift. Anyone seeing 2"+ lift on a 3rd gen?

Thanks. I'm not one of the guys needing a full 3" of lift just to say I have it. Just want to run some 285s with about 2" to 2.5" of lift. Want to make sure these will work for me before I drop that kind of coin on an experiment. 3rd gen DCSB TRD Off-Road with plans to add a TRD Pro skid and SSO Slimline bumper with the high clearance kit.

Yeah I'm sure I'll need a chop but I knew that going in. Sick truck, by the way. Love it. I really want to go with the Fox but I also can't get a handle on why some of the 3rd gen guys are only seeing 1" of lift and I'm a little sketched out haha.

1” on third gen is because it’s already 1” above 2nd at stock height. So 1” for 3rd gen is 2” above stock second gen. If you plan on adding weight, go with the 14” 600# coil from the start with a custom tune from @AccuTune Offroad

    Your welcome :hattip:

You’re not only paying for a lift. You’re paying for a more performance oriented shock. The adjustable ride height allows you to set your wheel in the area of travel that best suits your needs.

Regardless, you may need to change spring rate from the factory setup or maybe even a 14” that will allow for additional preload to get the amount of lift you’re looking for on a 3rd gen. It’s very commonly done though.

Thanks guys. More research to do. I have no problem paying for the performance and quality, just trying to make sure it's what I want before spending the dough. I think part of the problem is the smoking deal I had lined up on them but obviously it wouldn't have saved me much money if I had to go get different springs anyway.

Depends on who you purchase through. Some retail locations will swap springs out for minimal to no charge. You could always check the used market and see what’s available. Sometimes you can find used shocks with different rates already installed

Haha. You’ll be fine @GatorAintBoutDat just get the 14” 600 coils and custom tuning. It’s what you should get when you go with with the 2.5 shocks... and you’ll love it.

We'd probably need to get you a new body and have that cerakote'd.

    ~Second post regarding my lift~
    2019 Taco OR QCLB
2.5 Fox with DSC resis x4 corners
    Camburg UCAs
    Pro Comp ada leaf

So I took some measurements today and my rear is sitting 2.5 inches above the front. I took the measurements from the ground to the edge of the fenders on all four corners. My rear is sitting at approximately 39 1/4, FD is sitting at 36 3/8 and FP is at 36 3/4. I’m looking to raise the front up to the max that Fox recommends at the 1.9ish inches of coil, but it sure does seem like a lot more rake than most right out of the box. I also have a Pro Comp ada leaf in the rear...but geez!

Any advice welcomed. Getting the front adjusted Wednesday and a BMC, and I’m also having them check the caster and obviously the rest of the alignment. Any idea why the back would sit so off level outside of the front needing to be adjusted? Do these ada leafs give that much lift from the stock take? I was thinking maybe 1.5 inches and with the front being lifted would close that gap.

Looks good to me. Put some weight in that bed and mob around for a few weeks, it should settle a little bit.

By the way those that are thinking about cerakote, I cerakoted mine clear (MC-157Q) before installing, also cerakoted the springs and JBA UCAs. It's really not that bad to apply. I put 3M protective film on the resorvoirs and rear shock. Hopefully will keep rust away.
