I've read about some hypermilers. Some of their tactics are down right dangerous. Tailgating larger vehicle. Not stopping for stop signs etc.. I'm not saying that's you "hetektir".
Some constantly turn the engine off and on at every opportunity. Which is fine. But a new starter will take away a lot of any money saved on gas l think? I could be wrong though.
How are you hypermiling to achieve a 29.1 average over 19,000 miles?

Yeah it’s funny. The manufacturer spends millions test driving in perfect conditions and say it gets 24 hwy. motor trend , car and driver test them for thousands of miles and they get about the same. Yet some guys wanna say they got the unicorn that’s gets 20 % percent plus more per gallon.

Manual transmission, coasting in neutral when safe down hills and to stop lights, lower speeds (65 highway)and smooth driving, keeping engine load under 80%, and using scan gauge to tweak driving habits. I agree with not turning engine off etc other dangerous things. But if I did not tough on starter or battery, just a bump start since rolling already.

You will get better fuel economy keeping the truck in gear and coasting down hills. In neutral the engine is still burning fuel to maintain idle and stay running. In gear under no load the engine is just being back-driven by the drivetrain at whatever rpm you’re coasting downhill at and not burning any fuel.

I'm not saying it's a big deal - I'm saying it's normal, or should be.

It would be normal if we drove exactly like the mileage test is done when the manufacturer does their testing. I assure no one does. But I agree if you drive sensibly and the truck is not modified and kept stock you should be able to get very close to the stated numbers.

Hyper miler, there's an interesting term. Really don't see the point. If you're getting 55 mpg going down hill, in neutral, with a tail-wind, for 2 miles, so what? How's that relate to real world mileage? Sure, it'll bump up the numbers, I get that. Is it useful to compute that figure as normal driving habits for mpg? Yagottabeshittinme...

Consistently gets right around 20 mpg, give or take a few tenths. Real world DD average, good'nuff for me.

nada....maybe a license plate one day & BA bumpers

    Yup
That's what I usually get driving normal

I was trying to test how good the mileage can be if you drive super slow & without over gasing it

    I'm gonna try 50mph max
    With 2k rev max
& see what mileage that yields

This is all shits & giggles to me
So to all those taking it so serious
Go take a chill pill yo
