The NorthStar AGM Battery + Voltage Booster Upgrade

I recall a few trucks with those campers at a Chainline brewery meetup a while back.

I did really like the monitor and think it is the best tool to validate the setup, since the voltage fluctuates so much. Mine has since died though. Debating on getting a new one.

 

I have been having hell getting my x2power battery in from batteries plus, going on 3 weeks now and I keep getting excuse after excuse on why they can't get it in stock. The northstar agm is the exact same as the x2power coorect ? like this one:

Correct, different color lid and stickers but otherwise the same. Even says Northstar on the side. Once people realized they could get them from Batteries Plus at a good discount, it seems many stores have trouble keeping them in stock.

 

Has anyone done this mod on the 2.7L? I am wondering if its any different.. everything appears to be the same

 

What year? Pop your under hood fuse panel and check for an alt-s fuse. If you have it, the booster will work.

I just ordered the adjustable booster a few days ago.....waiting for my package from Oz...

 

Almost 4 weeks later finally got my battery

So is it ok to run the GM diode with a Northstar battery? There’s quite a few guys running it on their 5th Gen 4Runners.

 

I’ve not personally tested it. I would suggest running the voltage monitor on it if you do, as before and after comparisons with a multi-meter are not very reliable for peak voltage as the voltage fluctuates significantly from the alternator as shown by the voltage graphs.

 

How long has it taken everyone to get their voltage booster in the mail from Austrailia? Mine has been going on two weeks and still no sign of it. Im sure im probably just being impatient, but it seems like it shouldn't take too long to ship a fuse sized piece. Will give it another week or so before i call, just wanted to see if this was normal

Mine took seemingly forever as well. Must go by boat.

 

Nearly 2 months. Something happened at the port in California, package goes missing, seller actually refunded my money, and then the thing randomly appears on my doorstep a month later.

IIRC, mine also took around 6 weeks.

 

Didnt realize they took so long. Must be a bunch of customs and paperwork all that has to go through..
